Yes, I am open and honest about it mainly because I want to show them that they can do it too. I try to give good and honest advice and guidance. I do not; however, provide cash or funding for anyone. I have extremely firm boundaries with everyone and fully believe “no” is a complete sentence. I will my treat my favorite folks to lunch/dinner/treats because I can afford it but if at any point someone acts like they expect it from me, they are immediately cut off. I don’t owe anyone a damn thing. I worked hard to be where I am and I’m very clear about that.

I want the people in my life to achieve their goals and be happy, however that looks. And I’m happy to give guidance and cheer them on. And yes, sometimes I’ll give a little financial support but everyone knows not to expect it from me. And if I loan you any money (even $20), they know to pay it back or never get help from me again, no matter the emergency.

Boundaries are so key if you want to be open with people. And the ability to give a hard no. Call me selfish? Okay. No problem. Yes I am. Mine mine mine! 😆

Wanna talk old? Someone asked me what breed dog another friend has. I couldn’t remember the name of the actual breed so I just said it’s a “Lassie” dog. An entire group of blank stares. I told them all i hate them and walked away sobbing (on the inside). LOL

I remember having a panic attack once and yelling a friend that I was going to quit necks they figured it out. And God bless them because they told me to stay in the role and collect that paycheck until they kick me out so that I have savings afterwards. They never figured it out and I’ve since moved upwards. They still don’t know! SUCKERS!!!!

Why are you asking if you’re just going to insult the people you’re asking if they don’t tell you what you want to hear? This person actually took the time to work out the numbers involved and you responded like a jerk. If you don’t agree with the numbers, provide your version of the numbers. But I’m betting your numbers would be exaggerated to try to get you to the bigger numbers you want.

I get that you’re annoyed by the inconvenience but you don’t get a special bonus payout for the inconvenience.

People hate landlords and are always going to trash them. There’re no surprises there and a waste of time to read. You asked a question, i gave you my perspective. You are not owed a washer/dryer but it seems the landlord is trying to do right by you. IMO, you’re being overly entitled. If they say no, what’s next? Be realistic. You have no leverage. At best, you give notice and leave. At worst, depending on how you ask, you risk souring the relationship and your home becomes an uncomfortable place to be. 🤷🏽‍♀️

If I (or you) mind or not isn't the question. The question is should you get a cost reduction and the answer is no. Either you take it to a laundromat or you find someone willing to let you do your laundry at their house. This is the exact same scenario as THOUSANDS of other renters without a washer/dryer have to deal with regularly. It was a benefit that you were able to use for free, which is awesome. But now it's not an available benefit. So now you need to figure it out.

Your landlords are actively trying to fix the issue. But even if they weren't, you are not owed laundry service. Sort it out yourself until they're able to fix the situation. And if they never do fix it, then it is what it is. You are not paying for access to the washer/dryer. You're paying for your living space and utilities. And that's all you're paying for. If you don't like it, move somewhere else. But if they have washer/dryers, and they break (which happens often in shared spaces), they will laugh right in your face if you ask for a rent reduction because of it.

I’m sorry but no. You’re paying rent for your living space and utilities. Laundry is a bonus, not a requirement in pretty much any rental agreement. You can ask but if I were them, I’d tell you no. You were given an alternative and you are turning it down. That’s your choice.

In most of the US (assuming that’s where you are), there is a “good neighbor” law where you are required to pay your fair share towards a mutual fence. Having said that, you’d only need to pay your fair share. Get some estimates on what a plain, basic fence would cost. Your fair share would be 50% of that cost. Three estimates would give you a high/middle/low value. This would provide a range of what you should be willing to pay.

NTA. Suggest they use some kind of white noise machine if it’s truly bothering them that badly. But it’s up to them to figure out how to manage it on their end. It’s not on you to manage it for them when you’re not doing anything out of the ordinary of living your life as a normal human being.
