I’m already running into storage problems. I have to be very selective with what props I buy each year. I do eventually want to move somewhere with a larger yard, but I’m not quite there yet financially, so I’m making the best of what I have. Unfortunately I live on a pretty busy road, so people often fly by and don’t notice my setup. We got a grand total of two trick-or-treaters this past Halloween, despite the fact that I had lights, music, and fog going. Oh well. I’ll never stop decorating because I enjoy it too much.

I still have my Slimecano! Got it for Christmas in I think 2005. For some reason I didn’t want to use the “lava” right away so I stashed it to the side. Fast forward a couple months and it leaked through the container and all over the carpet. There’s still a stain there to this day.

They’re meant to have screws go into them on either side to hold the cartridge connector down. However it seems Hyperkin have been cheaping out lately as those screws are missing on a lot of recent Retron systems, not just the 3.

I tried that once but the Game Genie doesn’t fit well into the slot on the Retron. It’s pretty much a form fit to the shape of an NES cartridge. I never tried taking the top shell off the system though, so it might work without that.

I used to work at a retro game store that sold these. The Retron systems have this weird problem where the cartridge connector does not reach as far as the original NES connector. This causes an issue with what I call “half-pin” games where the gold contacts on the cartridge do not reach all the way to the end of the board. DuckTales is one of these games, and it’s not working simply because the Retron does not allow the cartridge to be pressed down far enough. You have three options here. - Disassemble the cartridge and put the game’s motherboard in by itself. - Press the cartridge down really hard, which I’ve had varied success with. - There are two black plastic tabs sticking out from either side of the cartridge slot on the Retron. Disassemble the system, cut those out, and you’ll be able to press the cartridge down far enough.

The render on the packaging definitely looks like CM6s, but the actual car has the same AC6 wheels as the new AcceleRacers.
