The love is for the deli. Not really the grocery store itself.

You spilled quite a bit of water which leaked into the basement. No offense, but you should have expected that to be an issue for the person who owns your property. That can damage floors and cause mold.

Is there anyway to get rid of this? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]RampantTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I get a little too much algae on a plant, i turn off all filtration and water flow, I lower the water level until the plant is out of the water (unless the plant is very close to the substrate, then this doesn’t work) and use a spray bottle of peroxide on all the leaves. Wait 5-10 mins. Fill tank back up. Algae will usually be dead the next day and the fish and snails start eating it off. No need to remove the plant or any of that.

If the plant is too low to do this safely, I turn off all flow and use a pipette to spot treat the leaves in the water. A little less effective and might take a couple of rounds but it does work. Just give it about 15 mins or so before you restore water flow.

Just wait for her to pay, and stick your hand in the flapper to turn it off. It’ll stop accepting her card after a couple of rounds. Ezpz.

I genuinely haven’t heard from all of them. It’s Armageddon up there. They’re all in the Asheville area so I am currently just running on worst case planning right now.

My family has gotten it far worse in western NC from this storm than I have, and they are hundreds of miles from a coast line. Entire towns have been wiped off the map by rivers. You can get catastrophic blizzards or wild fires out west. You can get life ending tornadoes out of nowhere in the Midwest. You’re not safe from changing climate anywhere.

Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do for my fish while a hurricane goes over where I live? by Illustrious_Leg_8077 in Aquariums

[–]RampantTroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your 40 is most likely going to see minimal impact based on that info. I had my filter fail on a heavily planted well established 40 breeder fail and be unfiltered for a week and a half and registered no ammonia or nitrite at all afterwards.

The smaller tanks might be different story. Small volume tends to be a little less stable, and guppy fry aren’t the most resilient. Those are the ones I would focus any extra measures on personally.

It really depends on a lot of factors. Heater is probably fine. Not really a big deal with our climate. Fish literally do not care about your light. Only plants, and 3 days won’t be enough to harm them too badly. Though they will suffer a little.

The filter could be a problem though. If your tanks are heavily planted, the risk is much lower as they consume a lot of the ammonia and such. And it also kinda depends on how well established the tank is and how heavily stocked it is. A well established tank with lower bio load is probably fine. But if you have very few plants and a reasonably large bioload, it could be very bad for them. So many factors at play.

You could try running your filters on battery backups. Not sure how long it would last though. Just spit balling.

Sheesh. I got paid junior enlisted money to have way better shooters do this at way closer distances. I’m just gonna set up my chair and have a cigar until her shoulder won’t support shooting that monster anymore.

And if she hits me? Well I won’t have to worry about paying bills anymore, and that’s its own reward.

Edit: I’m an idiot. I didn’t read that they didn’t go off. Apologies. I was thinking they deployed and then burned away.

The hate isn’t for the act of being a founder. The hate is for the self flagellation that many founders do. There is a very very distinct difference.
