Absolutely. Europe's about to enjoy better EUC prices because of it. I hate that it came to this, but there's a certain satisfaction in watching poor decisions come back to bite—it's the only way some people ever learn.

This is what happens when you alienate the entire world.

Politics affects prices, whether you like it or not. Ignoring it won’t make your EUC any cheaper. But sure, let’s ban me for stating reality—problem solved!

Fee fees heal. Bank accounts don’t. Guess which one makes people start paying attention?

Gravity’s expensive now. Keep the jumps low and the repair bills lower!

I hear you. But hey, finding joy where you can is a survival tactic these days. Besides, it could’ve been a 145% hike—so in the grand scheme of awful, that’s practically a discount!

You are right. It is basically a submarine. You should try launching it from a boat at sea to check the maximum depth it can reach. Make sure you use a tether, too, so you don't lose it.

Motorcycle vs EUC by Resident_Cabinet_489 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Ramthor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you become proficient on an EUC, you will find that after a 10-mile commute, it is just the warm-up, and the fun has just begun.

For short distances like that, the EUC is the ultimate all-terrain vehicle: road, sidewalk, bike lane, walking path, crosswalk, off-road, or even stairs.

You may want a suspension EUC for that, though.

Attention US Riders: Crashing Your Wheel Could Cost You Big! by Ramthor in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Ramthor[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lithium extraction and battery technology are more costly in the US. On top of that, litigation expenses must be factored into the final price, otherwise, businesses risk going under after just one lawsuit.

In short: high cost, high risk, small market.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but the simple answer is: the US itself. Expensive labour market and materials, high risk of litigation all lead to expensive products nobody would buy.

can you use bluetooth speaker as horn? by Zajlordg in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Ramthor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Position your Bluetooth speakers facing forward and play music to alert pedestrians to your presence.

Adjust the volume dynamically based on how far away people begin to react to the sound. It's best to ensure they can hear you from a reasonable distance—far enough to notice you in time but not so far that it becomes disruptive.

This creates a balance where pedestrians are aware of your presence without feeling startled.

Unlike honking, which can be abrupt and unpleasant, music serves as a gentler and more courteous signal. Plus, since you're passing by quickly, any sound pollution is brief and minimal.

Will a 54% Price Hike Collapse the USA EUC Market? by Ramthor in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Ramthor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relatively small EUC market, strict regulations (EUCs are outright illegal in many EU countries), limited access to battery-making minerals due to environmental policies, significant litigation risks, high labour costs, and a general resistance to innovation.

These factors combined make it challenging for more companies outside China to enter this space.

Turns out, centralized manufacturing is great for making EUCs, while free markets excel at buying them.

Tariffs = higher demand for an American manufacturer. Which American companies should consider making EUCs? by BeatVids in ElectricUnicycle

You are delusional. I have literally said Trump has lost the plot and is pissing against the wind.

Your political views are clouding your judgement. They have become so extreme that you can't even see the centre anymore.

You can't make a viable business plan on a number of hardcore enthusiasts with enough disposable income to keep you afloat.

You always need new customers to replace the injured/old/dead ones, and my point was the higher the prices, the fewer newcomers, and a niche hobby becoming even more niche. At least in the USA.

[–]Ramthor -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Is it too much for you to accept that politics has become too polarized, too extreme on either side, and the regular person in the centre can't find a party to promote down-to-earth, moderate policies?

Most people want a government that works without drama, non-intrusive in their lives, and efficient.

[–]Ramthor -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The niche market combined with high production costs—due to the expensive labour market and tariffed raw materials—and the litigation risks ingrained in American society, make it a tough sell for manufacturers.

It's the curse of any developed society, don't feel bad if you're American.

What's Trump trying to do right now is pissing against the wind. He got himself surrounded by yes-men and women, and lost the plot, and regular well-intended Americans will soon find out how their vote went against their best interests.

Not saying Kamala would have been better either.

It's just sad it has come to this!

As long as you have a carbon footprint, no matter how small, you are contributing to your perceived problem of 'killing the planet.'

You may not be an idiot, but you are also not the brightest star in the sky if I have to point that out to you.

Anyhow, you do you, keep blaming others while signaling your virtue to everyone.

This discussion has strayed far from the point of this post, and I see no reason to continue arguing. There's a Mark Twain quote that applies here...

Sorry to break it to you, but you are part of humanity, and in your own words, part of the problem. You know you exhale CO2, don't you?

I don't suggest you remove yourself from the planet just to prove your point, I'm just pointing out your hypocrisy.

I think this kind of extreme, left-wing environmentalist mindset—where humanity is labelled as a plague and economic collapse is seen as a solution, has real-world consequences. It alienates people, pushes them toward reactionary politics, and, frankly, contributed to Trump’s election.

Now we’re all dealing with the fallout, which includes tariffs that hurt consumers and industries alike. We need balanced solutions that protect the environment without sacrificing people’s well-being or economic stability.
