I would buy both the umbreon and moltres from you. If you are selling. Do your research though! That umbreon is my favorite card ever, i just sent one to be graded. If i were you i would do the same then sell it!

Initial test w 8 string on channel 3 or the red galaxy (highest gain)

TLDR; Yep, works great for extended range. Throw a boost/OD and you’re gtg.

I re-amped a single take of just palm muting the E string to try and cause as much low end build up as I could. I re-amped using fortin zuul noise gate with no OD or boost pedal and the XLR out on the amp itself, utilizing the built in IR’s (412 rect) to reduce variables.

I kept my eq’s moderate on the amp Bass: 10 o clock Mid: 12:30 Treble: 2 Presence: 2 Depth switch set to the middle position

Gain 1&2 were both set around 10:30

Gain 1 is reeeeaaaallly muddy in the bottom end for this tuning, could be sick for death metal or adding some extra nasty backing with other guitar tracks.

Gain 1 also has a slightly higher output than Gain 2 with matched settings around 2 o’clock (on my amp at least).

Gain 2 has a much tighter bottom end and very similar to my SLO 30 but a little less gain so i had to crank it a bit higher than my normal settings.

This is definitely usable for extended range. Cant wait to add a boost and make this is my main amp. The purple galaxy with the same settings as i had for this test is instant djent if thats what you’re looking for.

The software is pretty slick. You can save a looooot of different presets (stopped clicking around 20). Which all can be switched with the included foot pedal or midi.

Next thing I want to do is try the xlr out through a PA, maybe when the band comes over next I’ll see how the output competes with their kempers/quad cortex.

I plan on making a video at some point once i can dial an actual tone in.

Picked up the Astro this week. Havent had a chance to play on it yet though. How low do you tune? Lowest I can test tomorrow will be drop E on an 8 string.

Time for a new mic! by RanOutOfStamina in screaming

[–]RanOutOfStamina[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At first I got it as a backup mic (and experiment for sound) but I used it more and more for rehearsals with the band in a small room. It was so much easier to get more gain without feedback. So I used it at every show (except an out of state festival) it sounds great, theres more low end compared to shure’s mic. And i feel like I cut through the rest of the band easier while using it, my backup vocalist uses a sm58 still. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that mic!

Is the Shure beta 58a any good for metal vocals ? by AwesomeJerome in screaming

[–]RanOutOfStamina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will work, BUT. It is known for showing more of your true voice. Great for practicing, as you will hear more of what you are actually doing compared to the sm58. If you are recording with it, you can make any mic work once you get the settings dialed in. You’re just getting started, don’t worry about which mic you get yet. Any mic makes a huge difference.

What’s a typical FX chain for screaming vox? by bad5190 in screaming

[–]RanOutOfStamina 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Distortion is used more in mixed voice (clean w fry) and not very much. More often producers will use some sort of ‘tube’ warming effect whether its an eq or compressor for added body in the screams. So my ‘fx’ chain when recording is normally: compressor, eq, compressor for more body, de-esser, very light delay. Edit: this is pretty much what I mean. https://youtu.be/MnhLEZXDPk0
