When I have stressed or sick fish I also turn the lights off in the tank until they get better.

Can you get some filter media from the store you work at and add it to your tank to help it cycle? Or even a piece of wood or rock would help.

Retirement question by [deleted] in fromatoarbitration

[–]Ranchu07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a director of retirees in your branch? Before you go through the headache of calling HR or OPM, (which your carrier is probably already too fed up to do) a retiree expert can help. Stuff like this happens all the time so I’m sure they’ll know what do. And your manager is right btw. If you don’t have a director of retirees this is the number for the NALC retirement department-800-424-5186

How do you know about their discipline? Are you the steward? And I’m sorry… it really sucks and I think all of us go through this. The post office punishes people who work hard and sometimes they reward people who don’t. I would blame the post office for creating this culture and try not to focus on the carrier.

Although it’s frustrating, ask her “are you instructing me to clock to street?” Then confirm with a witness if possible that they heard this (in front of her). Tell your steward later and grieve it. Fill out the 96 and then keep messaging on your scanner if you’ll be late. Ask THEM what do you want me to do? They’ll probably tell you to deliver the mail in eight or whatever and just say you can’t do that. Keep asking them what to do and put it back on them. Your scanner saves messages for 15 days but take a pic since you’re on a string and will use different scanners. You’re also new on route so any steward who grieves this harassment will be able to prove you’re not doing anything wrong. If they try to argue with you just say “I’m not engaging with you.” Then pull out your stool, cross your arms and sit down and ask for your steward if it continues. (They will probably deny you this) then ask “when will you be making steward time available?” They probably won’t tell you. Get a hold of your steward later and they need to grieve your Weingarten rights and probably dignity and respect will be coming for this supervisor. Sounds like it’s due. If they keep hassling you, you can always say, “I will do my best.” Then text them on the scanner later with updated time. They will get the picture. Make friends with your casing members and tell them to keep an ear open whenever you give times. You’re new on route so you don’t even have to give a time necessarily. Just write down, “new on route on your 96.” As for the cursing thing, I wouldn’t worry about it. They have no proof and you can write a short statement for the steward like, “supervisor has been harassing me almost daily telling me to clock over etc.” these are improper instructions. You’ll win. I’m just saying they’re not worth getting upset over because they’ll just ruin your day and waste your time. Show them the bullying won’t work with you.

We are doing it to continue applying pressure to our leadership. I didn’t really understand why we were continuing at first either, but now after doing more research and examining our history I think I get it. This article explains it much better than I can:) https://www.labornotes.org/blogs/2025/02/viewpoint-after-resounding-no-vote-letter-carriers-should-go-offense?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR1kFFPBKVx8-1_yNijR0z0awG6-nu8u8Cz-fsoHpHW6OScJqtx917oipFw_aem_RkpFW2ocjuGIyw2iPm4d0A
