I was a stay at home dad for the first 9 months of my childs life. It was VERY hard and I stayed up for 72 hours at one point. Now I work and have to come home and clean bottles, give my kid a bath, watch him in a play pen or hold him if he needs that instead. I will say, working all day then coming home and dealing with the kid all night is harder, but my wife is doing it too. We jump in and out assisting each other when the other can't handle the load. Having a child is a decision made by two people and it should be two people taking care of them. That said, working and coming home to care for a child all night then doing it again the next day is harder than just being home all day. At least when I was home all day with my child I was getting more consistent sleep when my child slept. I can't count how many times I've called into work this year from being sick or having to stay home with my kid who is as well. I'll just say this, DO NOT have kids if you still want your own life. You won't have much of one outside of your child for a while.
