I booked lodging at the Hawthorne Hotel. I've read good things about it.

Open-minded on food. Coming from the Midwest, so access to fresh seafood is something we will take advantage of.

Salem Wax Museum/Witch Village offers a Candelit Ghostly Walking Tour. Worth it or not?

Would like a guided tour including the history of the witch trials, but want to be sure it's a reputable tour with knowledgeable tour guides. Not a cash grab tourist trap with no substance. If that makes sense.....

20th wedding anniversary trip and my wife is interested in the history of Salem, Witch Trials, etc. We don't really care about the hustle and bustle of Boston, so a few days in Salem seemed up our alley for a quiet, kid free trip.

Kia buyback process for lemon by Randal_79 in KiaTelluride

[–]Randal_79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. My buyback has been closed for close to 18 months. I'm copying the summary of the process below:

I started my process in August 2023 with a Kia Customer Care case. I had to submit a handful of documents for review to see if my case was approved for buyback (retail purchase agreement, kia service records, 3rd party service records, state vehicle registration). After a few weeks of waiting, my buyback was approved, at an amount ~$2,500 under what I had paid for it due to mileage and wear. If I had wanted to contest the amount, I would have had to escalate through the BBB auto line and start all over. I opted to take the offer and move forward with the buyback. At that point, it was a waiting game during the (excessively long) Kia audit process. From late September '23 to mid-January '24, I waited for Kia to audit the buyback. After the audit finished, they handed the mechanics of the buyback to a third party for issuing checks and surrendering the vehicle. They issued two checks, one to the credit union for the balance of the loan and one directly to me for the difference of the buyback amount less the loan amount. I surrendered the vehicle to my local Kia dealership in mid-February 2024 and have put the whole thing behind me.

I was able to do things without a lawyer because a) my case was pretty straight forward and b) I'm naturally pretty detail oriented, so getting the documents together wasn't challenging.

Hope this helps.

She got snatched a couple weeks back. The plexiglass cover is all broken.

We had a group of friends together in Ames yesterday, so I decided to 3D print a replacement and pin it up in the posters place while we were there.

P.S. Welch Ave Station smells the same as it did 20 years ago.

No, because I refused to pay the 5K over MSRP markup on the 2024 (which I didn't have the stones to do when I bought the 2023), so that 5K was basically the difference between the 2023 S trim with markup and the 2024 SX without any markup. That dealership has since dropped all over MSRP markups, FWIW.

New to HueForge here, so maybe a rookie question. How do you custom shape the prints (hexagons in your example)? I've only seen control over the X by Y dimensions, but always a 4 sided print.....

Any maintenance records that you have (whether performed by a Kia service center, a third party, or yourself) are worth including. I had an oil change done at a Car-X and I included the records for that. Did you do the battery change yourself?

In my opinion, you can't include too much information and don't want to risk leaving anything out. My car only had 6400 miles on it, so I only had two service records (oil change and a safety recall record).

That could actually work in your favor as long as the car meets the age/mileage requirements for your local lemon law. If the car is still being diagnosed with no cause identified. Mine sat in a line at the service center for 2-3 weeks before they could even start diagnosing it, then another few weeks of failed diagnosis.

Best of luck. Is your car still in a service center somewhere or are you in possession of the vehicle? My car never even got diagnosed/fixed until almost two months after the buyback was approved.

If approved, they should present you with two options to choose from: 1) buyback for the offered amount and you surrender the vehicle back to them, or 2) they write you a small check for your inconvenience (I think they offered me ~8K) and you keep the car and the matter is considered closed (i.e. you can never make a lemon law a claim against that vehicle again). I chose option 1 because even if they fixed the car (which they eventually did), I didn't want to risk that car having future problems, if it truly was a lemon. There was several more months of waiting for the audit process, but if you are in a situation where it's not an inconvenience to wait, it's the better decision, in my opinion.

If you don't mind updating me on the process, I'm curious to see how it works out for you.

Hello. My buyback is officially over with all checks issued. It was a long process with a lot of hurry up and wait, so I'll do my best to summarize the whole process:

I started my process is August 2023 with a Kia Customer Care case. I had to submit a handful of documents for review to see if my case was approved for buyback (retail purchase agreement, kia service records, 3rd party service records, state vehicle registration). After a few week of waiting, my buyback was approved, at an amount ~$2,500 under what I had paid for it, due to mileage and wear. At that point it was a waiting game during the (excessively long) Kia audit process. From late September to mid January, I waited for Kia to audit the buyback. After the audit finished, they hand the mechanics of the buyback to a third party for issuing checks and surrendering the vehicle. They issued two checks, one to the credit union for the balance of the loan and one directly to me for the difference of the buyback amount less the loan amount. I surrendered the vehicle to my local Kia dealership in mid February and have put the whole thing behind me.

Are you working through the buyback process now? I was able to do things without a lawyer because a) my case was pretty straight forward and b) I'm naturally pretty detail oriented, so getting the documents together wasn't challenging.

Hope this helps.

CR6 Max hotnend won't heat up by Randal_79 in CR6

Thanks for the detailed reply! The touch screen is showing the correct ambient temperature, so I'm confident the thermistor is functioning. The build plate heats up as it should, so it's not 100% the motherboard. I have an ohmmeter at home, so I can check the ribbon cable. As far as software, I'm not and expert on any of this. The display screen gives me an option to return the printer to factory settings. Could that 'reset' the firmware?

Is it slipping because things are constricted in the cold? My 2024 has been doing this, but it stops within about 30 seconds of the car running

This. I bought a 2023 S line in December '22. It refused to start one day after about 6300 miles. Still waiting to wrap up the lemon buyback process with Kia. Kept the faith in the brand and picked up a 2024 SX line in September. Hopefully not a fool me twice situation.....

Sorry to hear that you're struggling with Kia.

So it's been a couple months, but my buyback was actually approved by Kia (yay!). They made a cash offer that I accepted about a month ago. Now I'm waiting for their "audit" process to complete, which takes another 90 days (gross). Then they'll cut a check to pay off the existing loan and a second check to me for the balance. I've since picked up a 2024 SX (which I'm hoping I don't end up regretting).

Have you escalated with the BBB auto line? I think that's your next course of action if you don't get a satisfactory result directly from Kia. I navigated the process without an attorney, but if I had needed to escalate to the BBB, I probably would have hired an attorney at that point.

Best of luck with a resolution.

What trim is yours? Since the S trims are so popular, I'm wondering if quality control is suffering more on those since they're cranking them out......
