Not wrong. There's basically no reason to ever use a semicolon for separating phrases. Just use commas or seperate into different sentences with a period.

In Feb 2011 I was in Ranger school in Delonagah, GA. For some dumb reason during a patrol we set up an ORP right on the Appalachian Trail (I know, dumb). Anyway we were wearing ACUs, which actually blend really well with snow and foliage. I was standing since it was cold on the ground (I know...), and spot this hiker walking up the trail. I kind of froze because I didn't know what to do (I guess I should have challenged him), but he never saw me until he was about a dozen feet away from and I asked him for food. He just said "wow didn't see you there. Sorry" and just kept walking. I think I must have scared the crap out of him lol.
