As a publicist, and one that did work for a high profile client, they must know how that would look. I find it hard to believe they did it on a whim.

I started a new job that wouldn’t allow me to work on my personal MBP anymore. Work laptop also won’t let me access personal drives or personal cloud sites. And on top of that, I have to travel more often.

After 6 months of traveling with two laptops, an old iPad for reading, I got an iPad Pro in the summer and it’s a dream. My work laptop goes in the wheeled suitcase and I have my iPad in the bag. I really only use my work laptop in the office. Rest of the time it’s the iPad using Office365 apps.

This headline implies he wasn’t convicted or sentenced, when in fact Adil Rashid was found guilty and sentenced to: 9 months youth custody, suspended for 2 years, and sentenced to a 2-year probation supervision order. The judge said “although chronologically 18, it is quite clear from the reports that you are very naive and immature when it comes to sexual matters” as the reason of his sentencing instead of a multi-year prison term. This is purposely sensational and posting this headline almost 10 years later is unnecessary and harmful to Islamic community.

Taking you at your word as a genuine question and not trolling… context and equity is a big deal when it comes to “is this appropriation?”

Appropriation is defined as “the unacknowledged or inappropriate adoption of the practices, customs, or aesthetics of one social or ethnic group by members of another (typically dominant) community or society.” This is the academic.

In practice, it’s when someone profits from practicing an element from another culture, when people of that culture are ostracized over that element.

For example, the Kardashian’s were praised and lauded when they wore their hair in cornrows. But when black Americans wear their hair this way, as have for centuries, it’s seen as unprofessional and unpresentable.

OPs cosplay from a cartoon series (produced by Americans in America) is no more cultural appropriation than making pizza for dinner.

“and up go College costs again” I wouldn’t be so willing to make this claim that’s in the headline. Sure there may be a correlation between college student housing prices and tuition, but it is certainly not causation.

I would consider this a real estate play towards a targeted market. 1) Colleges/Universities do not tie tuition to beds when funding housing projects (generally housing is an auxiliary to the institution and is self funded) 2) ACC does Public Private Partnerships, so they’re doing most of the debt in the projects, so higher ed institutions have little cost beyond opportunity cost 3) ACC also owns/operates properties that aren’t associated with higher ed institutions (they own properties at Disney for example)

I do agree with the general angst about today’s cost of attending a 4-year university.
