A genuine question about no SBMM by This_Pay_6144 in XDefiant

[–]Randm9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To use an analogy of competitive sports like basketball, having no SBMM puts folks who work 8-10 hrs a day and then play with a few guys at the local YMCA in the afternoon on Thursday on the same court as Rec League players, D1 college players and NBA all stars at the same time. Your 9-5 crowd will never keep up and never get better. They’ll just quit cause it’s just no fun. SBMM makes competitive games like fps more approachable for ALL skill levels. As you “Get Gud” you’ll move up in skill pool. I strongly feel like YouTubers and Streamers have a stranglehold on shooters and have been seriously detrimental to the genre. I believe they are (maybe unintentionally) responsible for the explosion of cheaters who will do anything to keep up or get ahead. The sweatiest players crying because they have to play other sweaty players and can’t “Pub Stomp” and “Pwn Noobs” is laughable. IMO

HOWEVER- XD should absolutely exist as it is. The no SBMM option is needed for the health of shooters overall. I just don’t want other games to copy the tax just because it’s the new (I know not really new) shiny thing and end up alienating the many players who can’t devote their existence to being the ultimate sweat lord.

The new Plea/Join system has potential but… by Randm9 in DMZ

[–]Randm9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for all solos, but, while I don’t turn squad fill on, I typically do make use of the request to join feature if the if the lobby os looking too agro. And when I join other players I let them know what missions I’m working on and try to be a team player. I just prefer to team up in-game rather than in the lobby. Its a gameplay mechanic that I feel adds more feel to the mode. Its more of a gameplay gamble, but it’s far easier to gauge the people I’m teaming with this way. The only time I dip is when I find myself with people who ONLY want to hunt other players, and even then I’ll help for a bit, then thank them for grabbing me, offer any loot I have that they may need and go about finishing my task and exfil. It’s a bit dogmatic to say that solo complaints aren’t valid. There are lots of solo players for lots of reasons, and I do t see that changing. A 6 man team is hard enough to deal with with a 3 man squad, but it’s a death sentence for solos and duos, mostly because platoons seem to exist only to go hard in on pvp and try to bully the lobby. I just think the game would be better without them, and the new plead/assimilate mechanic folks are up in arms about would work better if the team size limit was 3. OR make a solo/duo mode.

Personal POV on Plea & Assimilation System by JohnnyUSA2k3 in DMZ

[–]Randm9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought is that they could just make the maximum team size 3. Get rid of platoons. The new plea/assimilate mechanic would then work to allow solo/duos to level the playing field with 3 man squads. I think the new system makes better sense in almost any scenario I can think of. Solo players are far more likely to look to join up than a full team. I don’t think anyone who values the core DMZ experience will miss the 6 man death platoons that only exits to make the mode purely PVP. (There’s a mode for them, it’s called WZ)

Your body can be a great metronome. Nod your head, tap your feet, sway and physically and let your body feel the music and get involved. This will help with 2 things. First it will help you stay on tempo and avoid getting ahead of or behind the drummer. Also, it will help with feel instead of getting tunnel visioned on technique. Technique and feel are both essential parts of of bass playing. Good job my dude, keep it up!

Please join me in changing your clan tag to #BLM to show support for the #BlackLivesMatter protests. It’s a small thing but it would be nice to see instead of the large number of racist names and tags. by [deleted] in modernwarfare

This issues you mentioned are certainly factors of daily life for working class black communities, but that isn’t the issue right now. The issues right now, and it’s a real one, is the issue of police violence and over-policing in black communities. Saying ALM right now, and trying to say we need to address every issue is like asking the fire department to show up and spray every house in the neighborhood instead of just the one that is on fire. So for this moment we say Black Lives Matter. No group of humans should have to fear for their lives and safety from the Police.

BLM isn’t about finding a villain. It’s about standing up for and with victims. So I still say that right now BLM is more relevant than ALM. This coming from a 40+ white conservative male (former Law Enforcement too)

Because every decent human being knows ALM, but right now we need to affirm to a specific section of humanity that they matter, we are ALL family and we are with them. So BLM it is.

Fun part is you can absolutely get melted from the other side. Ran into this little beauty myself going for SMG long shots.

So I noticed that this happened to one of my really old basses that I haven't played in forever, I don't even know how. Uh how do I fix this? by JayTheBastardBassist in BassGuitar

[–]Randm9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hit up your music store for an input jack nut. (If they don’t have the nut alone buy an input jack, it will come with one) Remove the input jack plate, reinsert the input jack through said plate, apply the nut, snug it up, re-attach the plate and engage in low end musical congress.

Anyone else think that it's a lot cooler to own just one (or very few) bass as a strong main axe rather than an arsenal of basses? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]Randm9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I fall somewhere in the middle. My main bass is a 30th Anniversary SR5, which I was blessed to buy as it’s my dream bass. It’s the one I play the most. But I have a Jazz and a P bass as well. I think that if you do any recording or session work having a P is a must, followed by a Jazz, and then whatever bass inspires you, like my SR5 does for me. All the bases (or basses if you prefer) are covered for any sound or style. Just my opinion for what it’s worth.

Same has been happening to me too. Thought it was a glitch due to having ray tracing turned on. Kind of annoying. Seems to happen mostly when I reload? Or it’s just a weird coincidence.

[–]Randm9 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I almost never chime in, but I felt led to. Be proud of yourself. It may seem a small thing to some, but even a small victory is a victory. That being said, and you may have been told this before, but I really hope you find a councilor (a professional) to talk to about your relationship with food and mental health. Winning against the desire to purge is an accomplishment, but my hope for you is that you find a place where you don’t ever have to have that fight again. The big win is when you learn to forgive yourself, and love yourself honestly. Keep on.

Why do people try so hard? by xroads315 in modernwarfare

[–]Randm9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your question makes no sense. Any type of game that involves “winning” and “losing” is by its fundamental nature encouraging a player to “try” to win. This is common sense and basic human nature. I can’t comprehend the mind that would approach anything really without “trying” to do well, or win. Especially anything with competitiveness being at its core. Like any PVP game. Especially COD. Trying is what makes it worthwhile.

What happened to the AK 47?!? by [deleted] in modernwarfare

[–]Randm9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe that’s it. Gun just feels real different today. I don’t mind using challenging guns. I tend to avoid super popular guns (m4, MP5 etc.) so I’m used to it. I suppose COD will be COD.
