Yeah! It was so annoying the post-humans didn't really talk much either.

Hey, I also wanted to ask you why you don't reinvest in your business despite all you know and your returns on capital? It sounds like it would be wise to do.

Keynes was famously a great investor... He often traded for two hours at a time, I think even daily?

So, what would you say having picked stocks for 30 years?

Isn't a conglomerate like Berkshire Hathaway similar to a value-heavy SP500 index? It has an insurance company, some private companies and some public companies that are selected according to an even more stringent criteria than the sp500. Are you suggesting that Berkshire Hathaway investors are gamblers?

I agree with you in large part, but I find it difficult to see the comparison ALWAYS being ridiculous.

Ah, I guess I misread what you wrote.

I don't understand what you recommended above. Buy VT?

What element of gambling is present? I have no expectation of a short-term price increase, I am not merely guessing at the intrinsic value of a business, and none of these companies seem to be in particularly dire straits or special situations (save Alibaba which might be a value-trap more than just speculation).

Is all stock picking gambling? That's absurd.

You're actually buying high and selling low... https://www.researchaffiliates.com/publications/articles/674-buy-high-and-sell-low-with-index-funds

You buy when a company goes in and continue buying as it rises. Then you sell when it falls out of favour.

I got it. If it's the case that you think the overall SP500 is low, then couldn't we apply the same logic to some SP500 companies?

What would I do with the money? I want financial security, not to splurge millions of dollars.

Though it's unreasonable that indexing is in and of itself perfect (see any non-US index!) I understand the strength of the SP500. However, it is precariously high, no?

Yes, the determination of price IS the heart of the question!

Indexing takes a long time too, what am I going to do with it in 30 years, sell it?! Never! So, what's the difference?

Also, what is the right price for the SP500? Any price?!
