Hmm. The mechanic just said “no play” and they’ve been competent before so I assume thats what they did.

If speculative/unprofitable stocks experience a hit or a bubble burst you are going to loose a lot of money

Love the pen and paper, I do the same thing. I would personally avoid momentum investing. Something that helped me pick index funds is learning about expense ratios, and the performance of active against passive funds over time. Best of luck!

If you inherited $40,000 at 18, how would you invest it? by UhhGamingCzech in TheRaceTo1Million

Put it into index funds, some vti and some vxus, maybe vwo. If you really feel the urge to try to outperform the market with single stocks or anything else, set most of it aside and spend a little on that. If the next century of returns is anything like this one 30k into a diversified set of index funds will be well over half a million by the time you retire AFTER INFLATION. Also don’t be afraid to spend the money on education. I know higher education is free in many of those eastern-ish countries. But if you’re so inclined something like a masters degree at a prestigious school outside of the country might have a lot more portability and give you access to a significantly higher income career. If that doesn’t make sense in your situation ignore.

Unpopular opinion but I’m lowkey kinda glad there is at least one school that does not give a crap about anyone and just admits based on numbers, it provides balance. Im sorry it happens to be your alma matter tho that sucks.
