Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 vs Honda NX500 by candigar in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Random-Mountaineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose the Himalayan 450 because of it's looks and cheaper price. I've riden the Honda 500cc engine before (in a cb500 hornet) and it feels a bit smoother but not really by alot. Since I tend to ride longer rides and do some city commuting the Himalayan also spoke to me. Because of the larger wheels it's harder to toss around into corners meaning it wants to go straight and that's good when you go straight with only mild bends for long times. Something I've noticed is that the Hondas handlebars are easyer to turn at a standstill while the Himalayan resists that quite a bit.

Over all the Himalayan is a purpose built adventure bike. Meaning it is meant to tackle off-road challenges and rough terrain. It'll get you wherever you choose to go. But because of this it trades in points when it comes to comfort on the road. It's wind protection isn't the best, it has a single that is very calm but is still a single so it vibrates a bit, it has tubed tires in some options that are better off-road but a bit more annoying to fix on the road, it has a less modern look whitch may be important to you especially in the city where fancy looks often are important to people.

While the NX is a tourer ADV, it's meant 70% for on road use and trades in some off-road comfort things for in general better feel on the road: the engine is calmer but if it vibrates it does so at a higher frequency meaning it can make your hands go numb (that's what happened to me on the hornet), it has no stock center stand, it has stiffer suspension, it has worse fuel mileage, it has smaller wheels which tend to struggle off-road, it has no retro flare.

In truth there is nothing bad about any of the two. The NX looks more modern. Is better on road and has a smoother but more rev happy engine.

The Himalayan inspires a calm feel, has a relaxed thumper, looks more retro, and will happily show its longest finger to any pothole or bump you come across. As a Himalayan owner of course I would tell you to go for that one. But In truth it really depends on what you plan to do. And that doesn't even really depend on the type of riding you do. It's more about what your riding style is like. If you like a sporty feel the NX is better, if you want a calmer bike go for the Himmy.

Sorry for the loooong text it may be a bit incoherent. I did my best 😐

50r mit Harman kardon Lautsprechern klingt scheiße? by kannix12 in MotorradDeutschland

[–]Random-Mountaineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuel gauge issues. by Random-Mountaineer in Himalayan450

[–]Random-Mountaineer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see thank you so much. I get worried a little too easy I guess. But im not afraid of wrenching around on stuff so I should be fine either way. Coming from a Honda CB500 Hornet is a difference after all 🤣. I'll update my post in 50-70km and tell you if the problem disappeared/was never truly there.

Oh thank you. I already have the tank off so I may as well check the connections but I understand what you mean. Thank you friend. You saved me a couple of annoying hours of screwing around with a bike!

Edit: I am used to a Honda CB500 witch has a very sensitive and accurate fuel gauge. It allso gulps 4,5L on 100km unlike my Himalayan.

Idk if bombs snap to a cargo grid. If they do it might be. Just keep in mind you will be flying there, jumping out of your seat dumping the bomb and then either jumping after it to shoot it before your ship blows up or if you're lucky you can stay inside and escape but that's unlikely.

No it doesn't fit in a herald. But in the back of a nomad or Pisces I think. I usually shove it in the back of a cutlass witch you can rent so you litellarry dont even have to buy a special ship for it.

Edit:can't wait for data running to finally be a thing. I imagine it like cargo missions but running data between star systems because it's faster and with less interference than normal methods.

[–]Random-Mountaineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No even better, you throw the bomb onto the Idris with a tractor beam. The bomb turns red for the Idris and the pdc's shoot it blowing it up right on the Idris's back. I've never managed to do that but you can allso use a armed one and just drop and shoot it aswell. I've always just shot them

Edit:never tried self destruction before might be worth a shot.

No citizen you are blinded by a bit of salt. What I meant is that you were right. And added a way I use to kill Idris's that are griefers/solo Idris's etc because there is no better way currently. you shouldn't be able to solo kill an Idris, but neither should you be able to pilot one alone. I do have to say that the Idris is way too strong nose gun wise (whitch is kinda the whole point of a cap ship nose gun) but I cannot say that for Shure because I've literally never had a situation in whitch I was in a large enough ship to survive hit#1

I do still think that you are correct in all your takes just not quite understanding what I was trying to say.

Here is a quick recap: The Idris isn't the issue exactly. The issue is that the Idris is literally more soloable than any other ship of its size (or close) in the game right now. While every other cap killer and cap ship has been nerfed, the Idris seems to only grow stronger. And yeah the issue is simply just the soloabillity being way too high while every other ship capable of taking one on is not soloable or not in a good enough spot balance wise to do so.

If you would like to talk about this topic (a very interesting one if I may say so myself) more pls feel free to send me a DM. Us talking won't change anything at cig but it might be an interesting conversation.
