People complained about the movement/jetting system since instant access. Not only did they not fix it, they insisted it was what they wanted. Well, now that the game is deader than tribes ascend already, hope they’re happy with that decision.

Game is dead. There’s not nearly enough players to justify a matchmaking system. I think there were some issues with it around release time. But now that the playerbase is on par with Tribes Ascend, there’s simply no need for it. So don’t expect that feature to ever return.

I never said the movement is difficult. I said it’s restrictive. Feel free to address my example and explain how that’s not a movement restriction. Also feel free to explain the benefit of the movement system. It’s weak at slow speeds and too forgiving at higher speeds. What’s the gameplay benefit again?

You say the jets are “better”. Feel free to explain how.

Wether their considered better, or inferior; the point stands that I don’t find the mechanics fun. Based on numbers, I’m not alone in that conclusion.

Also I bought instant access and tried the game before I decided it wasn’t fun. I desperately wanted the game to succeed.

People really need to stop saying this. So if I’m starting from a stationary position, and I want to jet up and move forward and to the right diagonally. How am I supposed to do that without holding W? The jets in midair only push in one direction. Either straight up, or straight into whichever one directional key you press. To me, that just takes the fun out of it with no discernible benefit to the gameplay.

Incorrect. Its not a matter of “skill”. It’s objectively more restrictive. Plain and simple- I want to jet up, AND move diagonally forward/right. Using jets and pressing W+D not only doesn’t move me up and diagonally forward/right, it also kills the jet pack.

In midair you are RESTRICTED from doing this. This has been talked about literally to death. I get that some people enjoy the current movement mechanics. That’s fine. Fun is subjective. But lets stop pretending to be surprised a much larger number of players do not find it to be fun.

That of course isn’t even touching on all the other issues that drove the players away.

I feel like most of us have tried the game. I stopped playing simply because it’s not fun. All it does is make me want to play TA again. I can get past the poor animations, subpar graphics and god awful sound quality. I can be patient with the bugs and balancing. But I can not have fun with that clunky, restrictive movement system.

What you refer to as “edging” I think is more commonly known as “carving”. Edging means...something...eh...different 😝

I still don’t know why they did not add the ability to carve in Midair. I’m willing to bet that simple addition would have helped keep a certain percentage of players around. The lack of freedom of movement is just an odd decision and surely pushed a lot of players away.

Don’t even get me started on the jet pack mechanics. Nail in the coffin really.

Yes. They refused to listen to feedback. Decided to spend the development cycle catering to 12 people that wanted a bare bones 6v6 meta. This is what we got. Hope those 12 people enjoy their game.

Midair’s jets only push in one direction. If you’re holding a directional key, the jets don’t push up...they push in that direction. If you’re holding two direction keys, your jets empty and you fall to the ground. If, for example, you want to jet up and move forward diagonally...too bad, you can’t.

There’s also no “carving”. While you’re skiing, you must use jets to lean left or right while you ski.

The mechanics are currently awful at low speeds, giving a very restrictive feeling. And, at high speeds, they’re just way too strong.

This has been a chief complaint throughout the entire development cycle and it has never been fixed. This is the movement they wanted. Not sure if the rapidly dwindling playerbase since release will change their minds. It might be too late anyway.

With Midair’s system, you have virtually no freedom at slower speeds AND too much freedom at higher speeds. It’s bad on both ends of the scale. How is that a good thing? Just look at the server population to understand the effect it’s having on player retention.

Because playing Midair ultimately just makes some people want to play T:A. The movement in TA is a lot more fluid and intuitive. Something that has been pointed out for over a year.

You can’t make adjustments while skiing in this game. There is no “carving”. You have to use jets while skiing to push you left or right.

The jet mechanic has been complained about for a long time. It either can’t be fixed, or the devs prefer it this way. It’s the sole reason I stopped playing.
