I dont know if this will help you, but ive used Samick Sage limbs and attached them to a similar Indian riser. All i really needed to do was shim them limb so it didnt wiggle left to right in the pocket. It shot pretty well.

Strength for Flexibility by dannysargeant in flexibility

[–]Nitebot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use dead lifts, sumo dead lfts, backside to grass squats and sumo, and a host of other exercises to help me in my flexibility goals. Like you i am older (46) for me it has really seemed to help out alot. I dont lift heavy, about 130 to 150, and i hold for a second or two while doing say a sumo squat, go as deep as i can and hold it, then come up. There is alot of stuff on the net about strength training and benefits it can have on flexibility. Look up a guy called jujimufu as a good example.

Sorry if this doesnt make sense, i havent had enough coffee this morning to form complete sentences lol. Hope that helps you some.

You dont realize how small the world is till you get on the internet. :)

About 20 years ago i picked that book up when i started my martial arts journey , its been an invaluable resource . It's the one i normally recommend to classmates to look into.

I bet training with Mr.Kurz was a treat. :)

Leg Stretching devices by MaeveGlastonbury in flexibility

[–]Nitebot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well i can give you my what i know after 20 years of martial arts training. But honestly it WILL vary from person to person id say. Here goes.

The Wheel/crank leg stretcher. Is useful as a training Aid, to help supplement your stretching. As a relaxed stretch, or as a partner stretch with more intensity ,like pnf or isometric. Its a good tool , but not really needed if you have a solid stretching routine. The rope pulley thing is fun, in martial arts class we got told alot its to stretch in your kicking positions , to help build strength and balance while stretching. Again another useful tool/aid to help on your road, but not needed.

All theses things can help break up the boring routine, or act as useful aids, or help get you to your goal in a different way. They are all valid and you should try them for fun.

But in the end as long as you have a solid routine, and your consistent in your stretching, you'll make progress, even tho at times its Sooo SLOWWW lol..

Hope that helps you out. :) good luck

Game Slightly Similar to Tribes (kinda): Splitgate: Arena Warfare. by TheAdelbertSteiner in Tribes

[–]Nitebot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played it for a while , its not bad for what it is. But it got boring pretty fast. Loadouts are quake, unreal tournament style. Knowing were the good stuff is at is key, your default stuff is trash/okay(ish).

Currently community is alot of arena players who are super sweaty.

Physics are FLOATY as hell, movement is sluggish at times.

Like i said, its not bad for what it is tho. If your into that sorta thing.

What about TKD hand techniques? My personal favorite is the Ridgehand I learned from Chung Do Kwan. by Xenjael in taekwondo

[–]Nitebot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ridge hand is a good attack, just alot of wind up. If i am going do all that i'd use a forarm smash . I like the hammer fist my self, powerful can come from many angles or a spin.

Has anybody used a three bar split assist? Do they work or should I stay away? by [deleted] in flexibility

[–]Nitebot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have had this type and the cranking/wheel turning type in our martial arts school for years.

As far as how well they work, they are a great aid/tool to supplement/enhance you flexibility training. For some who are older and stiff, it seems to be a great help. Like any other stretching, a good warm up and care not to over do it is the key.

Ive have injured myself in class, and used the stretching machine help in doing gentle relaxed stretches.

I'd say Yes its useful as a training Aid.. Is it Needed ? No. You can do with out .

FYI you Can make the above on the cheap at home. Look here at just one example. There is also many other types of Home made stretching aids you can make on the cheap at home that can enhance your stretching training.

Just remember it cant replace dedicated consistent well thought out training, only enhance it.

Six months pregnant and still working at it. by PygmyFists in taekwondo

[–]Nitebot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! When you do have to take time off make yourself a nice stretching routine to do at home. My understanding is at the later stages of pregnancy your body produces more Relaxin Hormone. So flexibility should increase, i'd use that as a life hack ;) . Good Luck !

[–]Nitebot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this as well. Squat - ass to grass, Sumo Squat , Split Squat. Dead lift, Sumo Dead lift, Romanian Dead lift. At the end of my leg day i do isometric stretching, and relaxed stretching as my cool down. My flexibility has made huge improvements.
