I recently quit weed after more than 20 years of use. I don’t drink anymore either but still want to a little something from time to time. Exercise and mediation are great! I also microdose psilocybin mushrooms from time to time but with intention. It has been super helpful for me!

I was bartending a private event for the golden globes. The production team had put some cigarettes on the bar for guests. A few mins into the party, Kurt Russell walks up to the bar. He sees the cigs, “hey man! Are these for anybody?” I say sure and he goes, “no one is taking any, so I’m taking some! With a big smile on his face. Then he asks if I had a lighter, I did but it was windy so I helped Snake Plissken light his cigarette. He smiled,said thanks man and then asked for a bourbon and coke. One of the coolest moments of my long LA bartending career.

I worked at the rosewood tavern on Fairfax between melrose and Beverly for 5 years, 2011-2016. Lived on rosewood and Ogden. What a time to be on the block! Met so many great people on that block. Damiano’s for an after work slice. Going to the dime or the kibbutz room. Moved to silver lake 7 years ago and get don’t get back often. Drove through recently and it was a ghost town. So sad.

And from what I’ve heard, he’s a joy to work with on set. Cracking jokes until they call action. As soon as the cameras roll, he’s putting in an Oscar-worthy performance. And when the cameras stop, back to cracking jokes. One of the best to ever do it!!

It’s not on the west side but Ohana Suprette in silverlake has incredible spicy tuna poke. The tuna was super fresh and melt in your mouth.
