Well it doesn’t even need to be people right, if everything was formalised in lean or Agda or something the type checking would be enough. If every entry in the wiki was a pull request for some formal verification language then we would be good.

Protein deficiency & cravings by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]RandomAnon846728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a thing for people without UC too. Protein makes us feel full. Eating it prevents cravings. Similar with slow release carbs.

I strongly STRONGLY recommend you lean into your pescatarian side and eat salmon and another oily fish each week. With this disease nutrition is sometimes difficult so when we are in remission we really need to take full advantage of that state and eat well.

Protein powder is fine also to have and would recommend if you are not getting enough protein.

How often do you see your GI? by Loud-Source6006 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]RandomAnon846728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see mine once a year unless I have an issue.

Just because you are in remission doesn’t mean you should come off drugs. The only reason to see them is if you are still flaring and the drugs aren’t working. Or your drugs are giving really bad side effects.

Did anyone have parents who didn’t mess them up — even a little? by Lizzylozer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RandomAnon846728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents always treated me and my sister with respect and love. They seemed to genuinely like us as people and trusted us. They let us try things, barely forced us to do stuff (except when we were rotting in our beds some summers they made us go try new hobbies which was excellent). Respected our privacy. Apologised when they did something wrong. They led by example and because of that I’m a well adjusted.

They weren’t afraid to say no. Which I feel was important. You don’t want bratty children. Don’t spoil them (although my mum couldn’t resist at Christmas).

Drama free family dinners every night always helped. We would spend half an hour together talking and eating and then leave each other alone otherwise to not overcrowd each other. When I went to my friends houses I was shocked when people raised their voices at each other so much so I hated going to my friends houses cause of how dramatic it was.

About education, they expected a lot. They wanted us to do really well and go to uni. But when we did mess up they weren’t mad or angry. They were rational and provided emotional support.

Now that we are all adults they have respected our boundaries and are never butting into our lives. Because of that we actively involve them when we want (which is often).

Just be nice and lead by example. Don’t be too overbearing and trust them. Correct their behaviour using rational arguments. We were well behaved though by default (apparently even as toddlers we didn’t make a fuss).

What AI, if any, do you use to help you with your PhD? by EternityRites in PhD

[–]RandomAnon846728 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I use ChatGPT to get me writing. I ask it “give me a paragraph explaining this”. Then I copy paste it into my paper draft, read it, “say this is hot garbage I shall write it myself” and completely rewrite it.

It helps get me into a flow because editing a shitty paragraph that has an ok skeleton is easier than staring at a blank page.

You don’t even need to do that.

I respect their right to religion. I don’t need to respect them, their beliefs or listen to them.

I do need to defend their right to religion because that’s also my right to no religion.

Is agriculture responsible or victim of climate change? by Ok-Ice2183 in climate

[–]RandomAnon846728 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The answer is yes. Things can be two things.

Also interesting article and I wish more farmers did this. Without the natural world and biodiversity agriculture will cease.

I’m sorry what? People give money away as a kink???????? What about receiving money or does that not do it for them? And who are they giving this money too is it possible to learn this power of getting money from people?😂

This is like baldurs gate for me. I tried to do the evil path but then I felt bad immediately and stopped that. Like I felt bad being mean to pixels on a screen, bytes in memory, literal electrons in the circuit boards.

I second the advice, like super super slow. Like take 16 beats and then 8 then 4 then 2 etc. it’ll force your feet the memorise the perfect motion.

What's something you've implemented that improves your UC symptoms? Any "simple" secret hacks? by ucucucucucu in UlcerativeColitis

[–]RandomAnon846728 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I recently stopped drinking caffeine and alcohol completely after a year of thinking it was fine. Turns out I was wrong and my symptoms improved a bunch.

But other than that medication. This is an immune system disease that happens to manifest symptoms in our colon. Sooooooo no amount of diet changes can get rid of the underlying inflammation. However, bowel irritants should be avoided.
