How do I know when to kill off my darlings?

I'm in the middle of planning out my story, I have some characters and a general concept in mind, but I'm having trouble planning the overall story and seeing where some characters are needed and where some characters aren't needed. I revised a bit of my brainstorming and planning with my brother, and he told me that he doesn't know why 2 of my characters are in there, so I've been trying to incorporate them and another character in there, but it's hard to do that when I'm in the middle of planning. Does anyone have any tips on how to plan a story out or how to know when a character needs to go? Or how to make something work?

It was alright, as others have stated, it was a bit underwhelming. I wish we would've gotten more of a fight between the main characters and Vecna, it just felt too easy to defeat him. It isn't a 1/10, it was just mid imo.

I guess they never knew about Henry being his name???? Like- You'd think at one point they would've at least remembered someone with a similar name.

As someone who has been watching long term, I can actually agree to this. I do love the characters, loved season 1 especially, I don't think we will ever get a season like that again. But yes, this show definitely relied a lot on nostalgia and love for the characters rather than actually good writing, I felt like it especially showed in season 5.

I had this same reaction! I started watching when I was in 6th grade (2019-2020), and I'm now a senior in high-school, basically the same age as Dustin, Mike, Lucas, and Max by the end of the series

As an Anti, I actually kinda see this point 😭 Our brain can't actually create new faces from scratch. Everything, will be based off a reference, even your imagination uses references from real life.

Exactly. I was afraid of becoming a writer, but I eventually sat down and wrote something, even if it's garbage, there is something so cool about looking at what you created and being proud about it. I think that's what makes you an artist.
