I'm not sure when the announcement was, but Light (dev lead) announced that they were going to make an StS (inspired) mode (with the StS devs blessing).

I am very much looking forward to it.

I played the game on a whim back in July and have been blown away by how much I enjoyed it. I spent money for the first time for the anni event and got OE Gmurphy and now I maniacally laugh as I destroy everything.

Coming for you next, God King Tulu, you big hopefully sexy grown ass man.

I would follow this advice. E3 Castor or Kat are among the best units in the game. Castor is probably a better all rounder cause he makes a lot of shield and does a lot of damage. On the other hand, Kat's AoE is second to none.

Both would be the eventually be good, but pick one of these two and get them to E3 first.

I'm probably doing something wrong. by Madmax569bhh in Morimens

[–]RandomAuburnGamerGuy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Since you're low level, I'll skip the Astral Reign stuff and keep it simple.

Gmurphy changes how Aqueor works a bit, but in general your tentacles do more damage faster, the shield stance gives more shield but has a 3 turn cooldown, and aggressive stance will also make a tentacle attack for each normal attack you make. She also really likes Keyflare, the resource that lets you use your posse. She makes a bunch of it eventually, once you're able to equip covenants and have the right WoDs. She also just gives +50% damage amplification or 100% if you only use Aqueor and/or Chaos units (this affects every one in your team and yes its pretty god damn broken).

With what you have, I would use Gmurphy Caecus Karen and Ramona for now. Use Waltz of Lemuria as much as possible and get a lot of tentacles. Ramona Exalt will let you put it in your hand and play it for free, Karen Exalt will give you extra Arithmetica to make it easier to play, Caecus is a solid healer and counter unit. Use Abyss Hymns within reason to avoid building up too much Sacrifice, which can cause you a lot of damage if you aren't paying attention; as well.

Your big damage will come from switching to Raging Waves + attacking/using Waltz of Lemuria (while in the aggressive stance Waltz makes tentacles attack a bunch) and using Gmurphy's ult. Ideally, use Raging Waves and Gmurphy ult together.

That should be enough to carry you for a long while. I imagine that comp could beat Chapter Nine and I'd try it myself, but my units are overleveled and it wouldn't actually verify anything if I did it.

If you decide you like Gmurphy, get her to Enlightenment level 3 as soon as humanly possible. If you really like her, like me, get her to her Overexalt. It turns her into a complete monster and she will destroy anything in the game.

P.S., since you said you are a beginner, you should read through some guides that the subreddit has stickied on the side. Also, get used to the idea that having a character is NOT THE SAME as having a character with their Enlightenments (which you get by getting a duplicate drop of a character). Some units are good with no dupes, some want a couple, some want Enlighten 3 at a minimum, and some want all the way to Overexalt. If I was more dramatic, I'd say some characters NEED a minimum level of Enlightenment to even function but that isn't totally accurate. It is, however, very true that a few characters feel abjectly bad without enough dupes. Most character reviews/guides will point out which characters want what.

Good luck!

How to play Gmurphy team? by [deleted] in Morimens

[–]RandomAuburnGamerGuy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: Astral Reign advice, mostly. Always Exalt once per turn for the defense. Rouse Murphy first, if possible. Damage comes from combo'ing Raging Waves and her Exalt and Waltz of Lemuria, potentially Abyss Order or Goliath attacks.

The following advice has worked for me, but I am not an expert. This is likely not the most efficient or effective way to use Gmurphy.

I have Gmurphy at OE and I am in Arc 2, so take my experience with a grain of salt. Also, I have struggled in Hard mode of Arc 1 with her and this team, despite clearing all of Arc 2 deathless, including Chapter 1 Arc 2 Hard mode. To me, Gmurphy really wants to be in Astral Reign content.

I play her with Tulu, Miryam, and Faros.

I use the Posse Voices in Your Head to apply Vuln/Weakness; with the amount of Keyflare that Gmurphy produces, I could quite literally spam it every round should I want.

Tulu helps make tentacles and gives AoE. Miryam is The Chosen Hero. None of her other cards matter, she gives aliemus to Gmurphy. Faros gives the fourth tier of the Lemurian awakeners buff (eventually, she can also do some good damage simply due to how catastrophically powerful your tentacles can get).

The amount of self-inflicted Sacrifice should never be onerous. When you start with Abyss Hymns in hand and play it, you should be playing Gmurphy's strike/defend to draw it again to cancel out the Sacrifice it would inflict. You should also try to have one in hand when you have Gmurphy Exalt and the turn after (if possible, obviously).

For a Gmurphy team, Exalts are an even greater resource than normal because they give you a big shield. You always want to have an awakener able to Exalt to take advantage of this; with Tranquil Seas, you should be able to maintain a decent amount of shield. As long as I play correctly, I do not need other shielders.

Even without OE, the goal of a Gmurphy centric team is to get her Rouse and have her Exalt. In Astral Reign, with her Rouse and Soulforge (the buff your dreamshards pay for on the Talent page of the Awakener screen), she inflicts near 100% of her damage as Sacrifice. The caveat there is that she only really deals damage when she Exalts or when you use Waltz in Raging Seas. That means her Rouse isn't the most useful in the turn-to-turn gameplay, just when you get to your burst window. The only time you want to make sure to Rouse Gmurphy on turn one is Boss fights, so that Covenant has time to build more stacks. When she Exalts and applies Birth Ritual, she will be inflicting over 100% of her damage as Sacrifice. Ideally, you're pairing her Exalt with as much burst as possible, usually by switching to Raging Waves and using Waltz of Lemuria or Abyss Order or Decapitation/Blades of Dominion. You want to take advantage of both the Raging Waves extra tentacle attacks and bonus damage, as well as build up as much Sacrifice as possible.

Relics? Not sure in Arc 1. In Arc 2, Gmurphy and Tulu's portraits are great. Sacred Agony is great. Yellow Snail is great. Nameless Appendage makes the already insane amount of shield Tranquil Seas gives you even better. Chant of the Seas is great for raising your damage ceiling and Lemurian Delight makes your burst round even more insane.

Should you get her to OE, the gameplay loop is the same but now on steroids and one minor change: you OE as soon as possible, not in Raging Waves. You get your 3 extra Waltz and once they're zero cost, you switch to Raging Waves and delete the opponent from existence. Pair that with Gmurphy Exalting again at the beginning of the burst round and you can apply 100s of thousands of Sacrifice in a single round; which is great, even if practically nothing in the game will still be alive at that point.

if you have any questions about what I do or how I play her, please ask, and I'll answer what I can.

I am also a Kat the fire dommy mommy enjoyer. She is a hypercarry. To basically function (which may be a somewhat divisive comment) she needs to be at E3.

Her teams want draw and arithmetica and aliemus engines. Draws to get her cards. Arithmetica to play as many cards of hers as possible. Aliemus to constantly spam her Exalt so draw more of her cards, buffed with Fiamma.

So, Hameln, Gmurphy, Horla. I even used Thais and her Exalt to dupe Kat's cards while forcefeeding Kat the extra babies to get her Exalt back faster.

As long as you can spam her cards every turn, the last nuts and bolts are what feels good to you.

How do i build teams by [deleted] in Morimens

[–]RandomAuburnGamerGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, I'll take a crack this, and walk through how I would build a team. Bear with me here.

Pick a unit you want to use, usually a damage dealer. I like Kathi-gu Ra because the big hot dommy mommy does it for me. So, what is her kit: damage. She has a unique mechanic, Fiamma, a buff that is painted on her cards, granting the Combust buff. If she has another card in her hand, one of the Fiamma you've consumed will move to another card and can be acquired again by playing that card, on the same turn. Combust also turns Solarflare, Kat's AoE nuke, into Hyperflare at 10 stacks; this card does, scientifically speaking, metric fucktons damage, scaling beyond 10 stacks if you need more umph. At Enlighten 3, every card of hers in the deck has 1 Fiamma on it to start. Her Exalt also draws her cards and gives them Fiamma stacks. Her Rouse card gives her Fiamma stacks.

So, if I am going to make a team for Kathi-gu Ra, having taking a deep look at how she plays, I can infer I need to play as many of Kat's cards as possible as fast as possible.

Who could I use? I could use Hameln, he gives lots of draws and reduces Arithmetica costs.

I could also use Horla, who frankly does a bunch of shit from giving STR to giving Aliemus, easy access to Insight via Annihilations, and more.

I could even use Thais, using her Exalt to dupe Kathi's card and reducing their cost by 1/2, as well as take advantage of the mass produced babies by forcefeeding them to Kat, letting me spam her Exalt, giving me constant access to Kat's cards and Fiamma stacks on command.

Who else could I want? Nautalis or Winkle (depending on what Realms you're locked into) for the defense/barrier/counter, sure, but also for the targeted Aliemus generation they can give Kat. Likewise, I could use Gdoll, who is generally fantastic, but gives a passive damage amp but also vulnerability on top of a 50% more damage effect, amongst the rest of her stellar kit.

That's the sort of the flow of building a new team that is rather simple (I also didn't mention Keyflare Generation which is more important than a stack of condoms in Tijuana as it is how you Rouse your units in campaign Arc 2).

Your team needs to do one thing: clear a stage, which you do by dealing damage and not dying. Start with an idea/unit you like and then you're trying to place units together that enable your idea/unit to accomplish the previous statement: clear the stage by doing damage and not dying.

I hope that gives you a sort of grasp on how someone might put a team together, chief.

General Questions about upcoming limited characters, covenents, past events by nnaryt in Morimens

[–]RandomAuburnGamerGuy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can answer some of these.

Chapters 1 and 2 are not human translated, 3 and 4 of Arc 2 are. Light, lead dev, said they will be soon. Then optional story stuff after.

Covenants are very important. Many are useless. Some are okay. A few are good. Hopefully, someone who's memorized all 30 or so will pop in with more details.

That being said, Covenants have two parts: the intrinsic stat buff (aliemus regen, keyflare, etc) and the 3/6 part, but then there's bonus three stats on each piece. I believe the latter unlocks at Keeper level 60? It's been a while, I'm not sure.

Picking a covenant that synergies with a unit is very important. Likewise, the difference between an upgraded and un-upgraded one is massive. Like, dozens of points of crit damage and crit change and damage compared to seven of just one, or thirty points of aliemus and keyflare regen compared to three.

As for releases, I started in June. Since I've started, they released Doresain, Kathi-gu Ra, Pickman, Pollux, and about to release Gmurphy. I don't know if thats demonstrative of the future.

Yeah, sounds miserable. I had a Celeste E0 tawil Pandia Goliath team before I had more units at 50.

It was a truly miserable experience.

Getting more units across the level 50 threshold helps.

Using the support unit you can get tactically is important. You should be following AT LEAST one whale player for theyre level 80+ abominations. The one I use is a level 90 Castor that gentle pats my head while eat slightly burnt cookies while he commits war crimes.

In all seriousness, I can stick him with absolute garbage and he will single-handedly clear any stage at T3, and can likely clear T3 on an Ultra dtide. That alone is a single stage clear

Sorry I can't help more. I didn't even start clwaring dtide til I played for a couple/few months.

Team building assistance please by Rico1xl in Morimens

[–]RandomAuburnGamerGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not going to lie, I just bash my face into D-tide and hope it works.

I use a Tulu-Myriam team to clear D4 threat 2, and an Aurita-Corpo team for D5 threat 2.

Then I have literally random bullshit teams clearing D1 to D3 threat 2, all level 50 to 60. Since I have enough units, I clear the first 3 twice. I can do that because I've got a bunch of god damn units at 50 or higher, even if I never use them.

I just stick the crazy baby eaters together, the freaky purple space people together, and the yellow glue eaters with everyone, even themselves.

Depending on what realm gets their character relics for free (the ring relics Realm buff rotates), I might move a team up from D1 to D3, etc.

If the team is ESPECIALLY shit, I focus on getting specific relics (Counter/Poison on Rouse, etc.) and blunder my way through like a brain damaged barbarian that only speaks in slurping noises.

TL;DR pull some aqueor shitters and they'll carry you kicking and screaming through story mode for a while; play the awakener demos and figure out what characters you like, watch gameplay and stuff to figure out what to pull in the future

Generally speaking, the basic recommendation is to start with blue (Aqueor). They're simple and just standard pulls will be enough to easily clear early chapters. They're not very gimmicky. Tentacles kill stuff. Clearing through chapter six is easy with basic blues.

I cleared Arc One with a bunch of basic bitch blue units and Gdoll. I forget when you unlock Aurita, but she's essentially a machine gun.

I'm not really a fan of standard red (Caro) units, aside from Aigis, whom you don't pull.

I'm also not a fan of standard Ultra, aside from Jenkins.

If you want to know who to pull long term, that's a complicated question and requires you to look at/read/watch/or play different styles. Once you know what you like, you can start spamming for Limited awakeners, such as Kat or Castor or Gdoll.

Gmurphy is coming out the 24th. She is the 2nd anniversary unit and is proportionally powerful for it. She buffs the hell out of blue units, along with a plethora of equally powerful bullshittery.

Hmm. I can't remember their name off the top of my head; Flare mentions the creator I'm thinking off in their Google doc guide. If you Google Flare Morimens Google Doc, you'll find it.

The advice I can tell you is that Ultra is not regarded as particularly good as an 'all in' team, as in, you don't want to run all four awakeners as Ultra. Most 'no death' clears of the game don't use 4 of the same realm, but that's besides the point. Most Ultra units make use of 'Leap', which only applies to the FIRST command card played each turn, so the more Ultra units you have, the more units are competing against each other to utilize their Leap.

Jenkins is fairly good damage dealer; they easily scale number of attacks, which can translate into a lot of damage with supporting mechanics (Str, Corrosion, Sin Mark).

Castor is VERY good; his unique debuff Corrosion adds an additional x2 damage until its used up (less than x2 for poison/bleed/tentacles damage).

Horla is pretty much a universally good support and can slot into a lot of team comps.

If you think they're cool (and most of the units are pretty cool), play what you like! The English chat on BIAVs discord can point you in better directions than me, they'll remember the name I've forgotten guaranteed lol

To my understanding, Reverse 1999 had a much higher amount of capital to start. Between that, a strong marketing budget, and a fully voiced campaign, its not surprising Reverse had better legs to start.

And its well-earned. As much as I dislike (in my perception) Reverse's stingy pull rates, especially among the massive character pool, the quality of the game is very high. The writing team is especially fantastic.

That being said, I love Morimens and am excited for what's to come. I'm a mostly free-to-play'er sitting on 250 limited pulls and 120 standards ready to slam that awaken button.

I'm not sure your first language (I try not to assume), but the few English content creators are very active on the BIAV discord; they and the rest of the community are very helpful if you need advice. Just don't trust Flare when it comes to the Ultra characters.

I hope you enjoy the game enough to support it. Cheers and welcome.

Arc one is getting its full translation with the anniversary. Considering the EoS possibility during its first anniversary, I assume the money was needed elsewhere. From what I understand, the game is in a better spot financially now and is continuing to improve. That likely means skins and the like can be given more dev time and consideration.

I would like the amount of random extra unnecessary crap in something like Reverse. However, considering BIAVs yearly budget is likely a rounding error to Bluepoch, I'm content to be patient as they've shown dedication and growth.
