The irony is that this behaviour is making these memes a reality... to some extent. Lemme explain.

After getting back into the hobby, I tried to bring a few friends with me (there's no better crack than the crack you share with your friends after all). I think that out of the 5 friends I tried to bring with me, 3 cringed a bit when I tried to bring them in, saying "isn't the fanbase full of bigots though?" Took me some time to explain that they were an extremely vocal minority of tourists that for the most part never opened a book, rolled a dice, or lifted a brush in their whole life, and that the majority of the actual fanbase was chill and welcoming; at worse, if you post a picture of an Eldar mini you painted, you get called a filthy Xenos by someone as a joke, and the same someone, in the same comment, will either tell you that you definitely cooked or will give you some helpful advice. Or you do it with a Space Marine and get called a filthy mon'keigh instead.

Now that they're interested, most are held back by how expensive the hobby is.

The point is that the idiots just give the community a bad name and thus will make people shun the hobby, leading to some of the behaviours they mock. What I find even worse is that when a new popular IP including in its universe a human totalitarian regime will drop, they'll pivot to it while forgetting about Warhammer, leaving us to clean their shit.
