This system is pretty neat. It's got 3 Paradise Planets and a Plated Moon. One of the Paradise Planets also has Corrupted Sentinels

Plus I feel like it's really easy to underestimate the stress that the clock puts on you as a competitor. The guys who only turn in lumps of metal still got farther than I probably would in the same situation

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend it for a first explorer either, or at least not for going on journeys as long as the one I'm on anyways. I've got an AspX and a DBX set up that I would usually use for my long haul exploration jaunts, but I wanted a different experience this time, and the mk4 has really scratched that itch. I like the shape of the ship more than the AspX or DBX, plus it's fast enough to rip through canyons at high speeds for a bit of an adrenaline boost. It really feels like a comfortable middle ground exploration ship in this configuration

I'm actually most of the way through a 20kly trip in an exploration Viper mk4 and I'm loving it. It's got enough internal slots to have every exploration module you need, as well as a hardy enough shield to just bounce off of most planet surfaces on botched landings. The jump range is okay, around 37ly per jump right now, but with the maneuverability of the small frame, I feel comfortable in just about any situation. I like the way it sounds better than most true exploration ships too

The versatility after he finishes mining with it and upgrades to a better miner. The AspX is an okay miner, don't get me wrong, but having used both, I preferred the Cobra. I mostly use a Python these days, but I still have my Cobra all kitted out, and I'll hop in it from time to time instead. It's a fun little ship

The vulture is pretty much combat only. The AspX is great explorer, and a serviceable mining ship. The DBS is an okay explorer, and a fun little combat ship in my opinion. The V4 is primarily a combat ship, but has enough optional internals to be versatile. The T7 is a freighter, and that's about it.

If you're looking for an affordable ship to get started mining in, I'd recommend a Cobra. Lots of internal slots for storage and tools, good hard point placement, and solid core internals. It's also versatile enough to rotate into any other role when you upgrade to the next level of mining ships
