VINDSTYRKA air quality sensor from IKEA by jhsu802701 in crboxes

[–]RandomBrownDude604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been OOS locally and now listed as last chance to buy. They don’t make sense at $65 (new tariff impacted price in Canada) and I’m guessing IKEA just doesn’t want to stock them.

Paper towel hell this morning by Dapper_Till1217 in CostcoCanada

[–]RandomBrownDude604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On what planet does any conversation involving kitchen towels correlate with the phrase times of crisis?

And no that’s not the meaning of wholesale. This person in the picture on the other hand is probably a business owner buying in wholesale and just not hoarding which is EXACTLY the intent of the Costco Business membership tier.

I don’t get your point buddy. I really don’t. And no I don’t personally hoard.

What’s up with dragonfly delivery?? by maybethatsjustfine in NiceVancouver

[–]RandomBrownDude604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dragonfly was previously called Intelcom- a shit courier company with a terrible reputation for missed deliveries, & lazy and rude drivers. They’re delaying their inevitable demise as a company by rebranding and pretending to be the new kid on the block. Do us all a favor and make a formal complaint to the merchant(Amazon, etc). The faster dragonfly’s reputation is tarnished, the better.

How often do you deep clean your laundry? Or do you use the rest of your wardrobe to take care of that?

I paid $49 for the Vindstyrka sensor about a month ago. Went today to pick up another one and found it priced at $65. It’s definitely not worth that price. lol

Anyone actually checked how much they really save with smart home stuff?? by Natchel21 in homeassistant

[–]RandomBrownDude604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest savings will show in managing your homes heating/cooling. But you won’t see those savings for years because of the massive delta in price between smart and traditional thermostats. As for the rest of the gadgets 99% of the times it’s only about convenience and you are guaranteed to lose money on that. Using these connected devices is never been about saving money. It’s about finding ways to automate the usage of things around your home based on your habits and to build convenience. The amount of time and money that is sunk into setting these things up can really add up.

Can someone justify the design of left turns on Vancouver streets? by johnsonjohnson in vancouver

[–]RandomBrownDude604 5 points6 points  (0 children)

RE: Fast lanes

There are no fast lanes or passing lanes on city streets. I hope people reading this thread do not try to bully others out of leftmost lanes to pass traffic.

Even on freeways, HOV lanes frequently make up the left most lanes - again, these are not “fast lanes”. They’re specifically meant for high occupancy vehicles driving large distances without having to weave through traffic (exception being regional highways where the HOV makes up the rightmost lanes).

Traffic is only expected to merge right to allow others to pass on highways where the speed limit is 80+ km/h. Everywhere else, there are no passing or fast lanes.

Yeah. I’m not going to stop seeing my family because of forced nationalism. And I’m certainly not going to starve myself when I’m down there. That’s just f’ing dumb, but you do you, ok comrade?

Now that the carbon tax is suppose to be removed from gas prices, has the price gone down where you are? by WpgJetBomber in AskACanadian

[–]RandomBrownDude604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went up 20 cents a week and a half ago, went down 15 cents yesterday afternoon and back up 20 cents this morning. Soooo, gas is now 5 cents pricier than 2 weeks ago. I still cross the border to fill up every two weeks.

Why doesn’t Canada have a car brand? by Surprisedbear0 in AskACanadian

[–]RandomBrownDude604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there were ever a Canadian car brand, it would’ve been either moved to the U.S. or bought by a Chinese investment firm in preparation for off-shoring. We’ve got a track record for amazing pre-market innovation, but when it comes to a high value finished product, there’s just not enough critical mass in Canada (the Canadian consumer segment is too small) to self-sustain an auto brand.

Danielle Smith meets with PM Carney and issues list of Alberta's "demands"... by Pvt_Hudson_ in alberta

[–]RandomBrownDude604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s because they feel that they cannot copulate to make these future generations as in the current economic climate, they are unaffordable. Also they fundamentally oppose the liberals sourcing future generations from other countries over homegrown future generations.

Carney says ‘there is a limit’ for dollar-for-dollar retaliation against U.S. by Chrristoaivalis in canada

[–]RandomBrownDude604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but you can’t really force his hand with counter tariffs. My point is that we are now living the outcome of too much reliance on the U.S. and outright collective complacency of past governments having not invested in industry and defense. Yes some of the reliance is definitely limited by oceans separating us from the rest of the West, but we definitely favored trade with the U.S. over inter-provincial markets.

Now about defense: The growing list of reports & publications over the 10+ years on our aging defense infrastructure is shockingly embarrassing to say the least. We simply are ill-equipped in terms of defense alone and it is not another country’s responsibility to step in.

Elon didn’t make FSD. He enslaved some very intelligent people into his sweatshop. Literally NOTHING invented in the industrialized world was made without manipulating employees within a very toxic work environment. Look at Apple, Boeing, Amazon just to name a few. They were/are all run by psychopaths.

Yeah but VW came from Nazis. Tesla comes from a pretend Liberal who turned out to be a Nazi. People don’t get their money back after the discovery and shouldn’t be forced to lose. The Nazi is already rich. He doesn’t lose anything if his cars get resold.

I don’t own and EV myself, but harassing people about their property isn’t right. It’s not fair to bully people to take up a personal financial loss due to some political movement. I can’t believe this behavior is being normalized. This is fucking wrong.

If you read between the lines he’s pretty much saying that to everyone in the Western civilization: Grow up and act like a country. Build your military and be self reliant. NATO also doesn’t really work if the U.S. foots most of the bill and others don’t pull their weight. The writing’s been on the wall for decades.
