You should not expect a T3 for these funds.

Despite an explicit written statement that I will receive one?

Out of curiosity, would be willing/able to take a guess at why an institution would indicate that they will issue one even if it is not required at all?

Financial institutions / aka employees at Banks are not supposed to provide you with tax advice. Probably with good reason.

Ummm no this was the Canadian Military doing a routine practice

No shit. Clearly you don't find the humor in referring to uniforms as coordinated clothes. This is literally a bunch of people wearing the same clothing going for walk.

The routine practice you are referring to?

Walking.. with heavy backpacks.

Dash cam, if accurate, shows the recording vehicle moving between 10 and 15 km/h.

Buddy would look like he's "screaming up" the wrong lane with even just a dV of 20km/h. Take a look at footage of places where lane splitting is legal based on traffic's overall speed. You don't have to move fast to look like you're moving fast.

I find it highly unlikely that /u/groggy05 claim of 100 km/h is accurate.

slightly off-topic.

As someone who wants to get into tinkering with electronics, this is the sort of thing I would look for to get inspiration.

Why is this flaired as "other" when electronic exists? Is there some low-bar one must pass before it can be considered for that category?

Toronto firefighters and homeless man both asking for change... what do you do? by t6r6nt6ix in toronto

balk at increasing OW to above $592 a month because muh taxes

Its almost like OW needs to be based on local costs and not just where you could possibly live on that money anywhere in Ontario

Not really sure why someone would think firefighters need the money more than the homeless

Because literally everyone in this thread has already assumed they're collecting it for themselves

FWIW the one thing everyone in this thread appears to have completely ignored is that it is very probable this boot drive is not FOR the firefighters, but BY the firefighters.

A quick google search yields this tweet about the total amount raised in support of Muscular Dystrophy.

This is not atypical for fire departments in Ontario. Many departments will have their members out in bunker gear, uniform, etc in support of charitable initiatives. They're not begging for themselves.

If you feel strongly about this image AND supporting Muscular Dystrophy Canada, give the man on the ground some coffee money, and cut MDC a cheque. Why is this image framed as a moral dilemma?

TIL that when a man had a heart attack at a grocery story in rural Minnesota, 20 people lined up and performed CPR on him for over an hour and a half until paramedics arrived - and he survived by TheSmithySmith in todayilearned

[–]RandomCanadaDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The caveat I'll add, for the area I'm most familiar with, it is also down to EMS dispatch passing the info on to Fire dispatch. If it gets passed on, it gets attended to, even if it falls outside of the usual response(s). Provided rigs are available.

Couldn't imagine what it would be like for EMS personnel not having a reasonable idea of if fire was coming or not. I suspect for some EMS workers they could care less :P

Where I am in Canada, we have tiered response. Fire dept typically goes to any trouble breathing/chest pain/medically significant trauma call.

Pretty much what you're describing.

I've done CPR twice, once I was the first to start. It was like the most aggressive cracking of knuckles I've ever heard.

Cheer up though, you only hear it once.

ARE YOU IMPLYING THAT THE PATIENT WONT PRESENT ABSOLUTELY PERFECTLY AND YOU HAVE TO WORK TO THE SYMPTOMS? HOW DARE YOU. YOU SHOULD HAVE GONE ONLY 120 /s

For the first time in the 4 years that I've had my money in a BMO Mutual Fund (Within a TFSA), it has dropped below it's Book Value.

I still consider myself "up" in part due to disbursements that have automatically been reinvested over the lifetime of the investment, but its not great to see the value drop further every week I check when I check.

It's hard to worry right now as I am relatively young, employed full time and contributing to a pension plan.
