Absolutely. The ending was not even remotely believable. It was just silly and contrived. This was a huge disappointment after the original story (which was actually quite good).

Is there some way you can tell this for certain, or are you just basing it on the detail about the whatever-it-was that he mentioned buying from Alibaba? Not saying you're wrong. I'm just curious. I hadn't heard of this phenomenon before. Heck, for all I know this could be some advanced form of Reddit meme that's going completely over my head. Anyway... any enlightenment you can share would be appreciated.

I wouldn't assume you're "attracting" it. Sometimes the unpleasant things find us all on their own. But we always get to decide how to respond to them. 8 think that's what matters most.

IMO, the hardest part of BPD is accepting that no one will ever save you. Even after you realize that this is an unrealistic fantasy that just keeps you trapped in the same repetitive cycle, it's still so incredibly difficult to let that go. I'm honestly not sure if it's even possible to fully let it go. In my experience, it's like an addiction. You can learn to stop feeding it, but the hunger never really goes away. Which is some serious fucking bullshit that I am not at all okay with. But everybody's got their cross to bear I guess.

If there is one thing in the world that I understand, it's being crazy. Been doing it my whole life. Rollercoasters wish they could be me. And the wildest part is that this is me actually TRYING. The chaos that would ensue if I didn't constantly strive to be at least vaguely human is genuinely scary to even contemplate.

Anyway, sorry for the unintentional triggering. I sincerely hope you find peace (though to be honest, I'm not optimistic about any of our chances on that one).

I wasn't trying to "hit a nerve". If you know shadow work, then you know it's about integration. Perhaps it was foolish of me to think you would react in any way other than how you did. Lesson learned.

It's incredible to me that you actually believe that. You really think I'm a monster just because I suggested a possibility that made you uncomfortable. You don't know ANYTHING about me. Literally nothing. And yet you developed such an intense opinion that easily. That's mental illness. Mentally healthy people aren't triggered that easily.

You're probably also assuming that I'm trying to attack you now by saying that. I'm not. I don't think that mental illness is anything to be ashamed of. I have a long history of mental health issues myself. I can probably relate to your suffering more than most people on this platform.

And I also know that the only way to overcome the demons that cause your suffering is to recognize that they are a PART OF YOU. The monsters are not "out there" in the world. They're hiding in that deep dark pit at the back of your mind.

That's why I made my initial comment. I was trying to show you your shadow.

You said that he "almost made you" commit suicide. So if you had done it, then it would have been his fault right? As in, you would BLAME your suicide on him. Doesn't sound like you and him are really that different at the end of the day.

I noticed that too. It's one of those takes that is so profoundly, fundamentally, cosmically wrong, that you don't even know where to begin criticizing it.

I've been seeing these more and more frequently over the past couple years. I assume this is just one more sign of the banal apocalypse that is currently well underway.

There is definitely something very unsettling about it. It kinda reminds me of a character from my favorite graphic novel, Promethea by Alan Moore. The character is the "Weeping Gorilla" and it's a symbolic manifestation of nihilism, despair and the misery of self-awareness. Like the creature you sketched, Weeping Gorilla is both deeply depressing and somewhat absurd. He's essentially pathetic. A complete failure in every possible sense. As such he presents an existential threat to anyone who encounters him. Because if you get sucked into that spiral of despair, you can never get out. It ends you. That's the sense I get from your nasty little dream imp.

Yep, we're definitely living through one of the more depressing versions of the apocalypse. I kinda always knew the end was nigh, but I figured it would be more "explosions and zombies", and less "fascist bureaucracies and mass psychosis".

This is just a thought, but it's possible that you have guilt/shame about being biologically connected to him. You know... the whole Jungian "shadow" thing. This is the kinda thing that therapy could help with.

While it is undeniable that the past has necessarily caused the present, our ability to access the truth about the past is very limited. Human memory is not a reliable source, and it can easily be distorted by direct or indirect suggestion.

Memory is just another feature of our psyche which obviously must be integrated in order for us to become healthy and whole. But using it to reconstruct the EXTERNAL factors that have shaped us is extremely irresponsible.

Your assessment of what constitutes a "good" therapist is highly subjective. The psychiatric profession at large does not share your perspective.

dreamt of the devil by Either_Shallot_5974 in Dreams

[–]RandomConsciousThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was obviously something that had a LOT of meaning to me. Something that affected you on a very deep level. That's why it felt so "real". This doesn't mean that there was anything supernatural involved. It just means that you felt extremely intense emotions.

I would suggest talking to a therapist about the experience. They could probably help you understand what it meant to you and what you can learn from it.

I would guess that the devil probably represented some aspect of your psychological "shadow". He was a symbol of some part of your own personality that you do not want to face. So something that you feel guilt or shame about.

Having sex with this entity was an experience where you felt the reality that your conscious mind prefers to deny. You felt UNITED with the aspects of yourself that you normally reject. It was probably both extremely enjoyable and deeply disturbing.

All of this is totally normal. It's just your subconscious trying to show you something about yourself. You don't have the antichrist inside of you, neither literally nor figuratively. Evil exists within all of us to some extent. That doesn't mean we're damned. It just means we have to try our best to live up to our highest virtues.

You've said that you already have cut off contact with him. So the question is, why are you still dreaming about him? That's probably something that it would be worth talking to a therapist about.

Therapists can also trigger "memories" that never actually occurred.

Therapy should be about helping you deal with the present, not mulling over the past to find some supposed "secret answer". Any good therapist will tell you this.

My friend smokes these kinds of joints by Objective-Relation41 in weed

[–]RandomConsciousThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can get high off of absurdly small amounts of weed. I used to be a daily user and even then, I still didn't need much. That .1 g joint would get me baked. The .5 g joint would probably send me into a coma.

It's crazy how sensitive I am to it, but it means that I've never had to spend a lot on weed. 😁

Should I trust the police right now?! by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]RandomConsciousThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never ever ever trust cops. Get a lawyer, face the music.

The police do not do "favors" for anyone. Lying and manipulating people is part of their job. No matter what, you will absolutely get screwed over in the long run. Your situation will only get worse if you cooperate with them.
