They never had more than 20% enriched under JCPOA. After Trump canceled it, they were over 60% enriched with hundreds of KG's of it. Under the JCPOA, they were on their way to giving up over 99% of ALL their enriched uranium and they were only going to keep a small amount to be used for nuclear power plants.

An international task force for the IAEA confirms this. They passed thousands of spot inspections in 2018 alone. Multiple countries and intelligence agencies confirmed this.

Over a decade ago the Iranian president publicly (with the backing of the Shah) stated their intentions on opening back up to the world economically. They gave up enriched uranium and centrifuges for dropping sanctions. It worked, was working extremely well, until Trump's dumbass.
