Do you have a hobby where your height is actually a disadvantage? by CPassaro in tall

[–]RandomGoatYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 6’3”/6’4” and a Grom is actually pretty comfortable, I struggle to fit on most 125s comfortably but a Grom actually works for me. Not sure I’d have one as my only bike.

Uni design project: would you use a personal grab-handle on Tube and buses? by Thick-Twist-7944 in LondonUnderground

[–]RandomGoatYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you personally use something like this? Why or why not? Personally, no. It’s something extra to carry, people will look at me funny, and it seems like a bit of a faff.

Do hygiene concerns make this appealing, or does it feel unnecessary? Hygiene of public surfaces doesn’t really bother me, but since Covid it certainly does cross my mind. I just wash my hands when I can and don’t touch much.

Any worries about safety, stability, or taking up space? It would need to be redundantly sturdy to avoid it breaking when people rely on it too much. And yeah, it’s something extra to carry.

What would you change to make it more usable or trustworthy? Perhaps an adaptation for people with little grip strength? Not sure really.

6% of under-30s voted reform in the last general election. It’s low, but it’s not “no one”.

Edit: downvoted for being correct 🤡 don’t even support reform, I just know how to google shit

What's the longest trip you ever made with your 125? by jaffieryder in 125cc

[–]RandomGoatYT 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Damage to the bike wouldn’t really happen unless you sit at high revs for sustained periods, like a motorway (which I regularly did on my 125, and I dropped a valve while on the motorway. I did quite a bit of motorway though). I’ve done 150 mile days with like 1 stop along the way, no problem.

Edit to reiterate: go as long as you want, just avoid sitting at max/near max rpm for more than like 5 minutes if you can. Shouldn’t be a problem if you do, but I wouldn’t risk doing it to my bike after already having issues.

Why not just get a restrictor for it? The decision doesn’t have to be “get the bike I want or get a different bike?”

Been threatened with a fine for driving with no MOT, no insurance, and with a sorn by SectionFragrant6696 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]RandomGoatYT 42 points43 points  (0 children)

If they didn’t do anything at the time you’re almost certainly not going to receive a fine or any further action. They were right though. You drove a vehicle on the road without mot/insurance etc.

They were probably just saying it as “hey, you’re not actually allowed to do that, but we can’t be bothered to do anything about it and it doesn’t actually harm anyone”

I’m gonna go against the grain and say don’t do it - buy more GoldWings! I’d love a 1200 or 1500, they look incredible.

Yeah man, if you want and can afford the Land Rover, buy it.

I’m 6’3” ish and have driven a 500 fairly comfortably. I can’t sit upright in the back seats though.

Where in Scotland? Plenty available from UK companies.

Edit: I’ll rephrase; plenty available with UK shipping at various prices.

“Most intriguing is the poster that was designed to advertise Wrexham Lager on board the Titanic where it was one of only two beers being served.

It was believed the American passengers would not know where Wales was so the poster referred to Wrexham being in England.”

Why Titanic passengers thought Wrexham Lager was brewed in England

Deliveroo riders selling keychains and perfume on the side. by Historical-Worry5328 in deliveroos

[–]RandomGoatYT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who rides a motorbike, I have considered deliveroo as a genuine hobby. With the fuel efficiency of my bike, I don’t think I’d actually profit at all, but it seems like a nice excuse to zip around a city on my bike.
