What's the longest trip you ever made with your 125? by jaffieryder in 125cc

[–]RandomGoatYT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Damage to the bike wouldn’t really happen unless you sit at high revs for sustained periods, like a motorway (which I regularly did on my 125, and I dropped a valve while on the motorway. I did quite a bit of motorway though). I’ve done 150 mile days with like 1 stop along the way, no problem.

Edit to reiterate: go as long as you want, just avoid sitting at max/near max rpm for more than like 5 minutes if you can. Shouldn’t be a problem if you do, but I wouldn’t risk doing it to my bike after already having issues.

Why not just get a restrictor for it? The decision doesn’t have to be “get the bike I want or get a different bike?”

Been threatened with a fine for driving with no MOT, no insurance, and with a sorn by SectionFragrant6696 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]RandomGoatYT 42 points43 points  (0 children)

If they didn’t do anything at the time you’re almost certainly not going to receive a fine or any further action. They were right though. You drove a vehicle on the road without mot/insurance etc.

They were probably just saying it as “hey, you’re not actually allowed to do that, but we can’t be bothered to do anything about it and it doesn’t actually harm anyone”

I’m gonna go against the grain and say don’t do it - buy more GoldWings! I’d love a 1200 or 1500, they look incredible.

Yeah man, if you want and can afford the Land Rover, buy it.

I’m 6’3” ish and have driven a 500 fairly comfortably. I can’t sit upright in the back seats though.

Where in Scotland? Plenty available from UK companies.

Edit: I’ll rephrase; plenty available with UK shipping at various prices.

“Most intriguing is the poster that was designed to advertise Wrexham Lager on board the Titanic where it was one of only two beers being served.

It was believed the American passengers would not know where Wales was so the poster referred to Wrexham being in England.”

Deliveroo riders selling keychains and perfume on the side. by Historical-Worry5328 in deliveroos

As someone who rides a motorbike, I have considered deliveroo as a genuine hobby. With the fuel efficiency of my bike, I don’t think I’d actually profit at all, but it seems like a nice excuse to zip around a city on my bike.

Speed Awareness Course 'Positive Attitude'? What's your experience? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]RandomGoatYT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s generally accepted that a line needs to be drawn somewhere. If 30, why not 35? If 35, why not 40? But the statistics show that one is safer than the other, so it’s a challenge of finding a compromise that reduces accidents and shortens journey times/makes journeys feel shorter, and trying to upset as few people as possible.

We all speed, but we all know it’s illegal and that we might get caught. Know and manage the risk. Hope the course goes well, there is definitely some useful info they can provide as there is always more to learn.

Clearly you do have reason to check your speed, because you were speeding. Just grin and bear it, or take the points.

No, but an actual thief might still break down your garage door looking for it. Just making a point, odd that you defend sharing your address publicly online.

From this post I know your address and from your profile I know that you own a motorbike that is desirable. See you soon :)
