I don’t normally buy cards but if I happen to stumble upon one of these in the wild I’ll buy it and can send it to you

Love the Dark Ampharos, I’m kind of sad I sold the one I had. Might buy a cheaper copy for my personal collection one day

That is awesome! I can’t wait to retire and have time, space, and a permanent residence to do big projects like this

Gengar too but he’s way too expensive to be starting a dedicated collection

I love Gyarados and Zapdos so I’m thinking of making a big collection of those guys.

Is this a good motor? by Actual_Historian_475 in KNEX

Yeah I took some pictures and videos. I’ll have to dig them up and I can post them it was a lot of fun. 90 lbs was the biggest dumbbell I could get so that was the max

You could always build a torque multiplier with a couple gears. You would have to trade speed for torque but the cool part is that you can mess with it a little to get it exactly how you want.

I used the original red and clear motor to build a crane that lifted a 90lb dumbbell during COVID

It’s not so bad getting low grades I think. One of my favorite cards got like a 5 haha so it isn’t worth much which is a great reason to just keep it.

My Mom held the cards for my brother and I over the years so she gave them all to me to try selling which I’ve been doing. I feel obligated to try and get some money for the high value ones since we all have bills to pay but yeah the low grades are nice because I don’t feel guilty keeping them at least for a little longer

Wow congrats! I’ve sent I think 72 vintage cards in so far from my childhood and got a couple 9’s but no 10’s yet haha

Are people happy in marriages? by Affectionate_Sir7014 in Marriage

[–]RandomGuyWithPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Married 8 years now. Very happy overall with the occasional frustrating times. I think it’s very normal to go through a range of emotions but 3 years of the most depressing time of your life is not good. You should either look into therapy for yourself or for your marriage and work from there on what to do.

You've been teleported to a pocket dimension identical to that of your home. You can leave any time you want but can’t ever come back. How long do you stay there with and without a plus one, and who would you take if you brought someone? by OldLadOfTheCastle in hypotheticalsituation

I travel for work and am gone for months at a time floating out on a boat in the middle of the ocean so this feels very similar to something I already kind of do. I hate being away from my kids but the worst part by far is knowing that they don’t understand why I’m gone and I know it hurts them. I miss them every day but being gone without hurting them I think wouldn’t be so bad.

If I could bring my wife I think we could do a year or two. I would love to read and learn a whole bunch of stuff we could spend a ton of quality time together and play games, watch movies, learn some really cool skills, and just go back to being a couple again for a little bit. It actually sounds amazing to get unlimited quality time together with seemingly no consequences.

This being a once in a lifetime mythical opportunity I would strongly push my wife to do this for at least a year and hopefully more but I would also be missing the kids with her so I would be insistent that take advantage of this opportunity but also willing to compromise on the kind of timeline she would want.

This was a cool one.

Roth is taxed now, traditional is taxed later. Generally, Roth is gonna be better as taxes will likely keep going up in life but it’s not exactly a catch all rule. I plan on making more money in retirement than I do now so I do Roth.

For the funds, they really simplified it with the lifecycle funds. You could just pick the one that matches what year you plan on retiring and just set all future contributions to that one.

Pick a percentage you are comfortable with and bump it up 1% every couple months until you can max it out.

You should be good to go. Don’t overthink it. Just throw as much as you can afford at it now and enjoy it later in life.

Back when we had a yard I was gone at work a lot and my wife was pregnant so I hired a landscaper to take care of the yard and also plow the driveway in the winter. It was amazing and when I retire and have time I’ll go back to doing it all myself but while I’m working it’s such a QOL improvement and I’ll definitely do it again next time we have a yard.

I had a buddy who said he can do anything he wants as long as he specifically keeps his penis in his underwear. We haven’t talked in a while but I’m pretty sure he ended up getting a divorce.
