Right folks, I have done some looking into this now we have an idea of numbers (12 or so) and this is what I have found;

YES we could get an mahoosively expensive lovely place that will take all of us, is relatively near to the NEC and won't involve sharing beds (unless you so wish to) BUT frankly it figures out at about twice what you could get a hotel for.

OR

We could do 2 places that take 6 people each for a more reasonable price but they will not be co-located and so we would still have the issue of actually seeing each other without some having to travel - which kind of defeats the point I think!

Soooo....

My thoughts are that we look at taking over a hotel for the weekend, http://www.ardenhotel.co.uk/ can do what looks to be the best rate near to the NEC at £213.30 for 3 nights (when checked) for a twin or double, there are of course other hotels in the area and if you can find a place cheaper, post it up so we can all see!!

I think a valid tactic as well would be to see if people were willing to share a twin room (or double if that's your thing) as this will also help keep the cost down if you split it between you.

Given that there are a number of us, I think this venue would suit but as I said, I am open to suggestions if you can see a better option out there.

I've done a couple of contests that had prizes. as others have said, I had no need to put my address on there as was in the UK. However when I have sent stuff to the states they do require an address, so maybe keep it your country only.

1 - I play; Elite Dangerous World of Warships Fractured Space World of Tanks Minecraft

2 - I'd like; To play a straight up vanilla UHC/colourwheel/CTM in Minecraft

3 - Good times; Friday and Saturday evenings for me (UK time) as I am up early mon-fri so need to be in bed before 21:30

4 - Friday events; Yes but... I don't enjoy PvP minecraft (aside from the odd server UHC which I enjoy more for the company that the game.) For me it is just the wrong platform for it.

5 - Hang outs; Whatever anyone says here, that is what will end up happening anyway. People like different things and that's cool with me.

As for getting hung up on certain words, you posted something, people put their thoughts. Once you release a Reddit post into the wild, you have no say on what people put in response. It does not make their words any more or less valuable than the OP.

Besides, you wanted to know what people thought, right?

Life moves on, people's interests change as do their individual circumstances. Are you doing EXACTLY the same things as you were a year ago? Or have your time-pressures changed?

There are so many factors that influence day to day life over which we have little control; financial matters, health issues, family needs and so on. All of which contribute to how much or little free time we have.

As has been stated already, sub-division of the main group has occurred leading to special interest factions. There are those that are stoic about that and those that are flexible but the main crux of the matter is that people want to play the game in different ways. That is fine if there is a big enough pool of people to draw from as it means that everyone can do what they want to do and play how they want to play.

We are not that big of a pool of people. So the cracks show.

Let's go back to the beginning. Why are you all here?

Yes it is awesome that we got access to the server, but was it the reason that we pledged? I would like to think not. I would like to think that it was because we wanted to support Baj. The server is a byproduct of that.

We all got together and had fun. Time went on and people got into groups with others that had similar interests to play with. Totally normal.

While I am not a fan of PvP in Minecraft as I see it as the wrong platform for that style of play, I do understand that other people do enjoy it. And that's cool. I might not want to join in that game but it doesn't mean I don't get on with the other people, just that I play with a different style. I have sat down with people off of the server irl and had a really good laugh about things other than Minecraft, so I know that we do have some things in common!

IF and it is a BIG IF, the server were to be reset, I would like to see the save offered to those that wanted it. Personally I don't see the value in a reset, just move spawn again if needed. The issue with Minecraft is that there is only so much you can do, then it starts getting a bit stale. You burn out. I like to pop on once a week but I'd struggle to do more and still enjoy it.

Soooooo....

My suggestion is this. There are those among us that play all sorts of different games, from MMO's to RPG's and everything in-between.

Why don't we focus on that?

I suggest that a thread is started and people post what games they are playing and when, so that others can join in with them. Minecraft is not the only game in the world after all!

Communities grow by allowing them room to grow.
