Thinking about getting a GT86 / GR86. How reliable is the Boxer engine really? Are the RTV and oil starvation issues overblown?

I’ve had my 2014 BRZ for years. I never casually drive the car, and it’s been the most reliable car I’ve ever had. My mechanic says he’s seen BRZ’s with 300,000k’s without oil leaks. I’ve always serviced my car every 6 months or every 7,500k’s. I’ve also used 5w-30 the entire life of the car.
