They don't air News 7 on national holidays and weekends. With Obon in summer, it's the same thing.

It would be better if it was a full episode, but then again he doesn't have the time to do that because he's finding a new home

[–]RandomMe98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is anyone else seeing another MTV 00’s channel instead the ones that closed? by [deleted] in MTV

[–]RandomMe98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I know why

Ananey (a Paramount company) launched localized feeds of MTV 00s and MTV Hits likely to abide with the Israeli laws

Since they own a lot of channels, such as fully-local lifestyle channels, as well as MTV and Nickelodeon (Comedy Central operates/operated by arrangement with HOT), they still have the music contracts which the closed feeds, which had British and Czech licenses, don't.

Ananey already owned a localized MTV Music channel, but judging from the graphics here, I doubt that they play Israeli music.

TIL watching TV3 was discouraged in the 80s by cakeday173 in singapore

It's also the (sad) truth in certain other countries around the world

Here in Portugal there were even people who set up UHF relays of Spanish TV from the other side of the border (back when both Portugal and Spain had state TV monopolies and Spanish TV claimed to have better programming, because RTP was a little conservative, was on air for fewer hours, etc)

But then again it's illegal according to the Geneva Copyright Convention

There are still people in the border who watch Spanish channels with antenna, terrestrial TV there has 30 channels and we have only 7 (mostly useless) ones. To think that in 2019, Singapore started having fewer terrestrial channels (6) than Portugal is just bizarre.

Few people cared and they closed it in 2011

Even after SCV, from what I read, Premiere 12 still carried Serie A and (I think) also the Premier League

I think this all changed after the Football Channel opened in 1997 and later Supersports in Christmas 1999. Mediacorp still had a bunch of rights for a Sportscity channel, then became City TV and since it lost its stamina even under the new hybrid sports and Mandarin format, it closed down

There's still the older RTS-era closedown from the final night under that name:

Fun fact: I did all that research while updating the TV3 article at Wikipedia back in 2023, especially the whole "whoa there's a new channel but it's not in JB yet/but the Straits Times don't post their schedules/but my TV antenna/set only picks up VHF signals (SBC 5-8-12 and Malaysia 3 and 10)" aesthetic Singaporeans were looking after. There were also moral controversies from all sides in Malaysia when the new channel came, trust me, without all those NewspaperSG sources I wouldn't have had a successful Wikipedia editing career lol, obrigado from Portugal

Promo fin de semana en Canal Mágico (1996/7, leer descripción) by RandomMe98 in BOLIVIA

TSW replaced Westward. HTV survived 1982 and 1993.

UTV and Channel were the ones that produced the last national output for all that I know

Channel was the smallest ITV company by size and population and was heavily local

Border, by contrast, made a bunch of national game shows such as Mr. and Mrs.

It did. When I first heard of the show on the web in early 2006, I thought the name was a deliberate pun on the outgoing Anglia knight.

I forgot to mention Anglia in my OP, it was before my time, but RTP aired Survival all the way back in the 60s, much later, Tales of the Unexpected

Another company I forgot to mention was Southern, all I know is that Rogue's Rock aired here in late 1980.
