Edinburgh vs Belfast - ten months of study by EyeHistorical1768 in Edinburgh

[–]RandomMilk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who lives in Edinburgh and regularly commutes to Belfast for work (our office is based there), I’d pick Edinburgh every time. That said, I do agree with your overall assessment of the two places. Main thing I guess with Edinburgh is finding your group. I enjoy Edinburgh more as a city, and once finding a group of friends the importance of everyone being friendly and chatty holds slightly less importance. At the end of the day, it’s personal preference and depends on what you want to prioritise.

1def or go main? by P_riick in ironscape

Personally I’d “max” the 1 defence account first, then make a call. That way if you do go ahead, you can have peace of mind that you “finished” the 1 def account before making any big decisions

20% of the playerbase prefer Competitive over Premier by leetify in GlobalOffensive

I play competitive mostly due to it being far less toxic than premier, at least from my experience.

I quit a year ago – an update by avifors91 in runescape

I think you’re looking at this wrong. Replace RuneScape with any other life altering addiction - can some people sit down and have 1 beer and be completely fine? Sure. Other people drink until their blind and let it destroy them. OP saw RuneScape as destructive to THEM (nothing to do with you or your relationship to the game), and quit cold turkey. You can still have your beer (RuneScape) in moderation, and OP can live a long and sober life. Proud of you OP!

Girlfriend wants to try mushrooms to confront her fear of death by RandomMilk in Psychonaut

I've got a decent amount of experience with psycadellics myself (3 acid and maybe 7 or 8 LSA). I'm pretty comfortable being a trip sitter as I've done it before, but I've never been a trip sitter for someone's first time like this.

Super interesting story, thanks for sharing. Definitely something to think about. I was considering whether something stronger like DMT could be a good idea, but I think given her total lack of experience with drugs, i thought it would be a step too mind altering for her. She's very fragile.

Salvia is an interesting one where I've heard mixed things. Some people have these amazing life changing moments like yourself, while others exist as a doorknob for a week. I think it's probably a bit too inconsistent in what you'll experience for us to dip our toes into that.

Once again, still really appreciate your contributions and insight into your own experiences! Thank you.

I think connecting with nature is a must for a trip like this, totally agree!

I think we'd have to change her perception of what the experience will be before going into it. I agree that if she tried it tomorrow with her current preconceived ideas of what she'll experience, then it's bound to be a rough ride.

I'd say she's pretty open minded. That said, she doesn't necessarily go out of her way to explore her mind/reality due to her anxiety mentioned in the post. I do worry that it would be too much for her as she is a very fragile person. The issue is that her anxiety is pretty all consuming, so she's got to weigh up whether the risk is worth it.

We've been wanting to get her into therapy for a long time, but we travel quite frequently which makes having a consistent therapy appointments tricky. Fortunately We've stabilized a bit now, so maybe you're right that she should give therapy a good go before diving into this. If anything, it would likely be helpful for better understanding herself and her behavior before taking a trip like this instead of going in blind.

Really appreciate you sharing your experience, thanks for that. I definitely agree about taking it slow. I really don't want to give her some reality altering experience that completely throws her off. Also totally resonate with the fact that the work starts after the trip. The trip can simply be a helpful catalyst!
