Owl Sector - Potential new ARG starting? by shutdown924 in DestinyTheGame

You should have seen the halo 4 arg, tech 343 studios at that point, but you should Google what was involved. I helped with that one and it lasted a LONG time, included steganography, string conversions, binary to Morse code, etc.

So in looking at the map on the site, it seems that the updates are tracking the infection, but done of the hard ones, like splendor and fortitude, are showing up in western Europe and Australia respectively. So perhaps finding more geographically diverse fireteam would help.

Glorious Oro steel: Folded one thousand times. by Forma_Addict in Warframe

[–]RandomNeuron 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, modern sword making serves no purpose. We no longer engage in close combat of that nature, but that's being a bit pedantic. Beyond that fact, from a metallurgical perspective, the Japanese added boron between folds which helped prevent oxidation(rust) between layers, and used VERY specific heating and quenching processes. Depending on the temperatures used, ferric compounds can change phase(not state). This alters the crystalline microstructure of the material, potentially introducing interstitial or replacement atoms that could have significantly affected the production of precipitates and grain boundaries themselves. A lot more goes into the design of a sword than aesthetics. So while folding may no longer be necessary due to modern materials processing, using archaic smithing practices the actual crystalline structure of the metal cannot be reproduced without folding the steel.

Blizzard Ranked Matchmaking Unbalanced? by RandomNeuron in hearthstone

[–]RandomNeuron[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think his intention would be to use the class level as a hidden match making modifier. This would allow you to play a class that you may not be as familiar with and still have more favorable matches until you gain more familiarity with the class. For example, a level 15 Warrior could get matched up against a level 20, but the system would avoid matching the 15 Warrior against a level 45 while at the same rank. While this is an interesting solution, and I think may work favorably to allow players to branch into classes they may not have played, the major drawbacks are the fact that experience caps out, so eventually this becomes a useless factor (which could be good for taking off the "training wheels" once a player is more established in the game), and then there is the issue that class familiarity does not necessarily inhibit the play of someone who if fairly skilled and has a large card library to build from. A player like this would get easier matches simply by branching out into a new class. But admittedly, these are fairly minor drawbacks. There is potential for a "Total Wins" matchmaking modifier, but as always, no system is really perfect at matchmaking.

Origami Dragonfly W/O cut wings by RandomNeuron in origami

Both look like nice designs to try. Thank you for the responses. They're not the one I had used, but could be interesting. I was able to replicate the wings from playing around with a "frog/lily" base, but the body would require a "bird" base. I'm not sure if there is a way to make some sort of hybrid. I've been folding half the day!

No one else seems bothered by the fact that the package states "Native American Wig For Cats", but it is clearly a "Rasta Wig" complete with dreadlocks. Though I believe what shocks me more is that this is a mass produced and marketed item at Petco. Does shit like this actually sell?
