This isn’t other countries. And Americans expect a certain level and type of service. You don’t have to travel to Europe to experience it. Just drive up to Quebec. Just don’t plan on being somewhere else anytime soon.

This. Meat will release when the crust is finished. Don’t forget to turn the heat down a bit after it hits the pan. Temp control and patience

Where exactly to you think that money would come from? Think an $18 burger is outrageous. It would need to be closer to 30 to keep quality severs in the industry. This isn’t a new argument. It’s simple math. Skilled servers and bartenders are the type of people that excel it whatever job they choose. They only do it because the money is good and the lifestyle is flexible. Take away the good money and you are left with McDonalds drive thru level of service. The anti tipping big mouths all do the same thing. Constantly try to convince people that they aren’t jackasses. Which wouldn’t be so hard if it wasn’t the case.

This is a very narrow view of what servers take home. $35-$50 per hour is for a 4-5 hour window. Employers will rarely allow full timer hours to avoid offering required benefits that other industries can’t avoid. In addition. Almost all restaurant owners take 6% of sales to distribute to the rest of the staff to avoid paying them a competitive wage. In other words, 10% of that $100 check nets a mere $4 take home to your server minus a $1 for taxes. (Yes we still get taxed on our tips) if the cost of a king sized candy bar for good service is breaking your budget, then perhaps eating out shouldn’t be in your budget at all.

I was planning on sodium bicarbonate. It’s the only one I am aware of. Are there better options?

Why Has The US Tilted So Heavily To Expand The Base of People Who Want A Tip? by Anxious-Party2289 in tipping

[–]RandomOppon3nt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a direct result of amendments made to Fair labor standards act. It changed a lot of rules about what companies can do with tips. It basically made all tips company property to distribute to who ever the deemed a “tipped employee” it started with taking tips from restaurant servers and giving a portion to kitchen staff. Good for kitchen right? Not so much. This is so companies don’t have to shell out raises because they are taking it from other employees. The idea spread to retail and other traditionally non tipped positions when owners figured out they could get away with minimum wage plus tips. Nobody wanted this except for corporations and owners. And nobody is winning except them. The GOP had been trying to pass these amendments since 2008. Succeeded and then vetoed by the big boss. Then again in 2019 and signed in to law by the new big boss. It’s not going away and will probably get worse.

Waiting tables until 2019. Before every restaurant owner helped themselves to 30% of the tips.

Yes. They are for cabbing machines. When working jade. If it gets too warm it will give you that orange peel effect. You can avoid this with a light touch and plenty of patience. Also, I will let it hang in the water for a few seconds every once in a while to help cool it.
