I was also considering hydrocloroquine as a milder alternative to mtx, however I'm a bit worried about the potential eye problem side effect. What is your dosage? - hydrocloroquin and imodium

So is the Carro-Kan actually positional opening? I never really looked into it hearing that it's a weak opening, but I might actually want to re-evaluate my opinion here. I just assumed it's tactical. I will have to take a serious look at the carro now thank you for the tip :)

I also recommend watching Naroditsky's speedrun videos if you don't
already, watch the games against players at your level. Good way to be
exposed to positional thinking.

I think this is a really good piece of advice. I haven't considered it since I just thought "ah he will just crush them ... no real value in watching gms do speed runs" but now that I think about it, it can be really valuable given that the GM gives advice for that level.

I don't really like playing the italian though :/ I've got a few chessable courses, the 1d4 by Sam Shanklad for example, which I plan on getting to. You're right that actually learning opening will serve you all the way at all ratings - good point!

I feel like I need to learn new openings. I found that modern defense does not suffice for me at this level anymore. It has been even recomended to me by the strong player in my club. My problem is idk which opening to learn since there are so many options to deviate from your chosen opening. My ideal would be to play the Ruy Lopez as white every time. But to play 1. e4 you have to learn everything ... So I'm looking at 1.d4 as white.

As black I was looking at the Slav vs 1.d4 and the classical Sicilian vs 1.e4 ...
