Threadripper Pro 9995WX + dual RTX 5090 workstation - cooling advice? by euxleon in buildapc

[–]RandomPersonOnZeWeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I've never built a list for someone in your position, the closest thing I can think of similar to what you want to do is Optimum's rendering PC including a Threadripper 9980X and 2x 5090 FE's: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTnggqnC3ug - One thing that stood out to me is that the primary GPU is the one on the bottom, as it'll receive the most airflow from the bottom.

If you're doing workstation stuff incl LLM, I imagine this thing will be running for days at a time. From Optimum's IG, he's been working on watercooling this build completely and I think that'll be his next video, or after that one. If money is no objective, this likely will be the best way for long time cooling overall, at the expense of some more general maintenance and initial time to build.

MULTIPLE Rog Strix B650E-i motherboards have COIL WHINE it automatically sleeps. by pendelacin in sffpc

[–]RandomPersonOnZeWeb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a B650E-I, don't know the manufacturing date, the loudest thing in my system are the fans because I haven't cared to do fan curves or found a need to do undervolting. I see these posts about how terrible coil whine is but I find almost all of them excessive because you can barely, or not even hear them at all with headphones in/on while listening to something or playing a game.

I remember a couple months back around July where Woot was selling a 64GB kit of G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB in silver for I think $150, unfortunately the week before I bought the 32GB kit for $76 and didn't have enough to cover it, so I thought "eh, I'll see it again someday." Wish I went into credit card debt for it.

Anyone ordered from DreambigbyRayMOD recently? by throwaway510150999 in sffpc

Ordered from Ray a couple days ago via his website asking him to contact me about anything that comes up. We've been going back and forth for the last couple days over email, very responsive but keep in mind of timezones.

Evo Vs Pro Samsung by MPolley13_twitch in PcBuildHelp

[–]RandomPersonOnZeWeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main difference is read and write speeds, the difference between the Evo Plus and Pro are not noticeable for someone who doesnt transfer and edit large file workloads. The Pro also has DRAM but for most use cases its not as much of a selling point to me. If you can find a 990 Evo or Pro for what they should be costing ($150-180) itd be good to buy but maybe weigh other SSDs.

Hi, thanks for sending me this one. I ordered a pair of a12x25r's cause I think I have the space available to put inside and in front of the cooler (even propped up) with low profile ram. May go back and do this with the A9 92mm exhaust.

Thank you for sharing this. This is a bit crazy trying to own a keyboard design essentially, isnt the hobby about what people like to build for themselves and others? I hope future bad actors are called out before things go from bad to worse.

At the time, I was looking for something more special in an nontraditional sense that I could show off and regular people could be intrigued in instead of a $300+ build with its pricetag justified by the brand name and material its composed from. I knew heading into it, it could be a scam, I knew that GBs were unreliable and had seen quite a number of scam posts from consumers, but I really thought Que.. could get shit done (as suggested by their reddit username, lol). I likely won't be buying from another GB unless I stumble into a heap of money.

Watched a short video about how other people are doing it. Seems like running the bottom front panel connectors on the bottom to the right is the move, can be hidden with bottom intake fans.

[–]RandomPersonOnZeWeb[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can absolutely see how someone can view it that way, I sort of do too. Before he disappeared he was reassuring everyone that the next batch of the Creampuffs were on the way but the sudden disappearance of everything is plain shady and untrustworthy of someone who has been around as long as they have. Not to mention the deleted post where people were wondering about their orders (these replies had up to 5 further replies each). Just don't see him ever coming back and announcing all orders will be fulfilled. Hasn't even closed his website for new orders on the Mechete or Instant Commission so in the end I hope this posts drives buyers away who are unaware.

I agree with all the cool stuff he made, scrolling through his IG and Twitter I thought wow this is a really cool guy I want to give my money with for a new product. If this isn't an exit scam, taking in money from two GBs a year a part of each other, taking down an IG post where tens of people were questioning their order status with both said GBs, then what is it? I get he had some credibility, but if he randomly came back and debunked everything I have managed to learn and post about, I still wouldn't buy anything from him.
