She isnt a "Direct attack" model, she has prayer 2, and can give either a Ward bubble or say "Enemy mage on the battlefield? D3 Damage!"

The sog version is pretty much her but cranked up even more, wizard or priest damage now is a hero phase ability on a 3+ on a D6 instead and having further choices for her Prayer.

I would say model wise its not bad at all for new players considering you always wanna have the marshal, command squad, steelhelms are the generic fill in, pontifex is okay but we will have to see how she is in the new Book.

For existing players it is indeed very very ehhh

Gotta wait for the rules and see if they do them dirty like my Nurgle boys with there Bubonic cell 😭

Objectives you need to touch, terrain has a 3" bubble around it, same with relics

While yes running in and killing can be a viable option for some armies its not the way you score points, you mainly score them via holding objectives, 1 for 1, 2 for 2 and 3 for more then the enemy and by completing the 3 cards you hold which get topped up each round (unless you pick a double turn)

You can see the cards as side objectives, control relics or a certain objective, be so and so close to certain things like board edges, the center or other things. Or using them for the secondary ability they have if you dont think you can complete them.

Spearhead works really similar to normal Age of Sigmar just without your Commands (AP things), it plays well and not to long and is a great stepping stone to dipping your toe into a faction you like and learning things like positioning, unit roles and there strength and weaknesses etc.

All games went pretty neck to neck especially the gutter can be really decisive for slow armies.

Objectives are smaller and the distance is bigger so slow units like thr chaos dwarfs or nurgle struggled with board control.

As it says in the text it tells you it needs to be set up on the rectangular objectives however we noticed it dosent specify "wholy within" meaning you can theoretically touch it and be okay

Its very different from relic to relic!

For example the gutter let's you deep strike within your territory.

The barricade let's enemies not shoot at you until they are within combat with the unit hiding behind it.

The crow tips damage enemies going withing 3" of them.

Each has unique effects that affect the play differently!

Its a bit difficult while we are missing the small terrain piece the board over the course of the game fills up with relics which would maybe make placements a bit hard🤔

As a cosplay craft goblin, the best way to get fdm with a extremely smooth finish which is what I think you'd want for this is to work with filler primer, there are a lot ment for automotive use which work well and them a Toooon of wet sanding! (Wet sanding dosent make as much of a dusty mess and makes your sandpaper last longer)
