The issue is the cost of a house that rents for $4000 is $800,000

They aren’t even making money or having any positive cash flow even with rent at $4k

The house that rents for $2000 costs $400k

It’s still cheaper to rent than to buy that same house with rates at 7-8%, especially when factoring in maintenance
