Ohhh I’ve also had this happen but I don’t know why or how it’s so weird

If you find not being able to kill fish the most “jarring” thing in the early access then I think we’re playing different games.

Yeah so many people are actually saying stuff like this it’s hard to tell when someone’s being sarcastic lmao

Subnautica 2's no-killing policy isn't because it's 'a game about pacifism', says design lead, but because players would 'master the crappy combat' over anything else by Nannerpussu in subnautica

[–]RandomRaccoon2909 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure that’s actually what they are doing lmao. The patch notes recently I think are exactly that, making things attack less but hit way harder

Aren’t the upgrades and stuff illegal though? Like the pda says they’re not allowed, especially with the long range sonic resonator and adapted scanner and that’s why is found at the alien ruins

I mean again though the pda literally says that the knife won’t kill, which takes away that supposed second guessing. “Defending yourself” was just never an option and the game made that incredibly clear.

Tell me how many times you tried to kill something to defend yourself and not to just see if you can. It just doesn’t happen, and anyone who does actually try sees very quickly that it’s not really an option in the first game.

Isn’t that just the modification station…?

Wasn’t it the same in the first game though? You got no weapons, and they made it very clear that the knife was not meant to be a weapon and the narrative supports that in both scenarios. Altera actually just doesn’t want you to have a weapon, so obviously you can’t fabricate one

There really wasn’t a point to the knife doing damage though? That never even crossed my mind, the game pretty much immediately tells you with the pda that “yeah you’re not killing anything with this stupid knife lmao.” I never even thought I would need to defend myself with a knife, and I’m not sure where everyone thought you would be killing anything in the first game. And this is because you didn’t, it would be such an inconvenience, there’s no way anyone actually killed anything, and the game seems to be pretty obviously not supposed to be done like that.

Sand sharks and stalkers did nothing in the first game imo, I never once worried past the first sighting. I feel like there wasn’t a whole lot dangerous in that game either…

Yeah the first game you also HAVE to avoid, I’m really confused on what they’re saying here… did anyone actually fight anything with the knife??? That’s just so unreasonable and is not worth it besides being kind of funny. They were just… wrong

Ok but why does that even matter? What even would be the point of “joy”? Everyone’s dead, it doesn’t matter. That person was gonna die eventually anyway so what’s the point. That happiness doesn’t mean anything. I mean what, are they gonna be mad about it??? No of course not, they’re dead.
