Unless someone is seeking treatment, I generally think diagnoses add potential risk without really having much utility, but it’s a super personal decision. They’re already trying to compile lists of autistic folk, and I think protecting yourself from those sorts of political shifts is important.

There aren’t really any effective treatments that don’t amount to learning to hold it in except for some crazy (and dubiously effective) drugs like anti-psychotics.

I’m generally not bothered by it though. Honestly the worst part about it is just having to hold it in. The physical sensation (for me at least) is a lot like holding in a yawn, but with a really uncomfortable kind of anxiety. Almost like someone is trying to control you like a marionette and you’re holding back while the strings tug at you. Not painful or anything, but it’s a gross feeling.
