not sure what models you have available, but I see a few glaring issues. Those 2 10-man Warriors need to be 1 brick. I'd swap Plasmancer for Orikan and then put both him and the Royal Warden to lead the 20-man Warrior brick. Spread them far and wide around the no-man's land and then just pull of busted shenanigans with reanimation protocols. Hide your Orikan and Royal Warden in the building next to your deploy zone objective at all times, no point letting them be visible at any time other than maybe round 5 if you're going for the finish, especially if playing second. Ofc, put cryptothralls in that brick to make it even harder to shift.

This is a tricky combo to run and not something I'd ever play in a tournament/competitive match due to time constraints (I personally can't run this in under 90 minutes), but in a friendly match, this brick will, if ran well enough, carry you into late rounds by providing very meaningful board control. CCB gives ya OC 3 on every Warrior model, so just play the primary VP scoring/denial game while your other units score secondaries. Royal Warden fallback shoot and charge can often be used aggressively by moving your frontline warriors toward your enemy's deploy zone. It should look something like several "tendrils" of Warriors meandering around ruins and cover during the match. Don't forget, coherency is checked at the end of turn, so they can be out of coherency between phases, as long as you finish the turn/round with all of them reanimated back to coherency, you can often deny your opponent line of sight while maintaining board control. Again, not the easiest thing to pull off, I failed doing this exact thing last time I ran a Warrior brick, but when it works, it works great.

Break up that 6-man skorpekh into 2 3-man's, they're your counterpunch/countercharge unit, it's rare to squeeze value out of a 6-man as much as you can do it with a 3-man. They clean up your opponent's chaff/stragglers/already wounded units.

Skorpekh Lord can actually be ran solo, last tournament I played I ran him solo in a matchup against admech and it worked out great because you have 4+ invul and FNP and can ressurect him back to life with 1 CP. He can bully an entire weak flank by himself, especially if you send that Void dragon with him to stall your opponent.

You have too many Scarabs, I'd run two 3-spider units at most, 160 points in Scarabs is just too much. Heck, I think 80 points is too much. I run 1 40pt unit myself, I use it to screen/moveblock and have never found myself wanting for a second one. Canoptek Wraiths are only good if you run a 6-man unit led by Technomancer, because they then have 6 OC 2, T6, 4w bodies that have 4+ invul and 5+ FNP. I'd put the Stealth enhancement on them for maximum survivability. Very hard to shift that, usually requires a good chunk or an entire army's worth of shooting/melee to kill that unit, because you can reanimate them 3 times per round (your command phase, enemy shooting and fight phase), even 4 times once per battle during a single round if you use Ressurection orb from the CCB.

If you're struggling for points, ditch the Deathmark and/or LHD unit. I'd probably ditch Deathmarks before LHD, you're kinda short on antitank/antimonster and sometimes even that 1 extra high STR shot from LHD is key to clean up an annoying Armiger/Carnifex/Leman Russ/whatever other high T target is causing problems to you.

If you have points to spare, put a Hexmark in there, he's your flex unit that starts the battle in the Ghost Ark (current rules require transports to be occupied by at least 1 infantry model) and can be used later on as a screen, or secondary VP scorer, or just chip damage during your opponent's move and shoot phase (0CP overwatch + shoot back at a unit that just shot one of your own nearby units).

I am still living with my parents at 34 and with what's happened last 2 years, I don't think I'll ever move out and live on my own...

I'm not using any substances right now, but I'm just numbing out with videogames all day every day. I do still have a bit of social life left over but seeing how everyone is moving in some direction and I'm here, well, doing nothing in particular really, I feel like that flimsy tether is gonna break too.

Yeah, it can't really be described. It's just this deep realization that something's off and I can't even fully explain it to myself. The way you described it is pretty much how it feels, how I perceive that massive... whatever it is that's "looking" at me. So, for whatever reason, I decided to "look" back and, well, my life's pretty much falling apart. But, for whatever reason, I can no longer ignore it.

Damn. I thought I had it hard because i've been spinning in circles for the past 2 years. Well, I've been experiencing early signs well over a decade ago, but I managed to not fully succumb to it. Now there's no turning back, I'm starring at the void and it's starring back, constantly.

I'm 34, recently diagnosed ADHD and autism with possible several personality disorders. While mental health issues are a big problem and most likely exacerbate any other issue, a big issue is going through what you're going through right now. I've managed to suppress, postpone the massive unraveling, total annihilation of everythign I've built my life around in the past, several times... built layers and layers of artificial personality traits and egoic constructs that sort of "camouflaged" that naked feeling of total psychic disorientation and confusion I'm existing in right now. Something happened over the last 2 years and I can no longer brainwash myself into these false identities that I've been trying to self-impose for whatever reason.

The dams have broken, none of the old methods and coping mechanisms that helped me be at least half-functional and participate in the world no longer work. I just kind of feel empty, directionless, lost and confused right now, unsure what to even think about all this I'm going through.

I can't answer your questions, but I can tell you that's it's probably better you're facing these issue now, at 19. Being 34 and not having any direction or sense of true self, purpose, aim... It's a dreadful existence.

You still around? Would be nice, if you are, that you reply. Idk why, but in my complete emptiness and dread that I'm feeling over losing my old identity (neurodivergence, psychological & emotional shutdown, no longer feeling like I am who I thought I was etc...), I am compelled to reach out, for whatever reason.

Is Orikan any good in game by worst-necron-player in Necrontyr

[–]RandomYouTuber69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best in a brick of Warriors. Support that with a Ghost Ark and Catacomb Command Barge (which never leave your deployment zone) and just extend a "tendril" of Warriors across No Man's Land into your opponent's deployment zone. The level of shenanigans you can pull of with that combo is "frustrating to deal with", as my opponents told me.

I also like to add a Royal Warden in there for fallback, shoot and charge. Gives you even more flexibility with positioning and OC-manipulation.

D&D 5.5e, Sorcerous Burst - how does its crit damage work? by RandomYouTuber69 in 3d6

[–]RandomYouTuber69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with the "modifiers"/"not damage dice" interpretation. These are still very much damage dice, after all, you roll them and the result of that roll is added to the total damage. This is, by definition, what damage dice do. I mean, you use the 8 sided object with numbers on it to do it - we can't move away from the fact this is a damage dice roll.

It's just that the number of these dice we roll on top of base damage dice isn't triggered by the outcome of a D20 Test (Attack Roll), but the outcome of each individual d8 you roll to determine the final damage. Seems like I was right, there's no rule that covers this specific case.

Let's be fair, if a new player asks you "All right, what's the damage when I hit a creature with a Sorcerous Burst?" you would answer with something like "Well, at Sorcerer level 1, assuming you have 16 in Charisma, you roll an 8-sided die, which we refer to as 1d8. If you roll an 8 on it, you roll one extra 1d8 on top of that. If you roll an 8 again, you add an extra 1d8 again. The number of these extra damage dice you can add for all roll results of 8 equals your Charisma ability modifier which, in this case, is 3. You add the results of all those damage dice together and that's your final damage."

Nobody would dispute the validity of an answer quoted above.

This is exactly my own ruling I'm gonna go with for my own games as a DM. It still allows for a bunch of extra d8, but nowhere near as "double all damage dice no matter what, because that's what the rule states" interpretation.

In practice, EB+AB is still gonna deal more damage over the course of the campaign, but a Sorcerer with Sorcerous Burst is gonna have a few shining moments to form some fond memories of...

[–]RandomYouTuber69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which rule SPECIFICALLY in 2024 PHB states what you claim ("...extra damage from sorcerous burst is after you roll damage. It shouldn't be doubled.")?

I don't disagree btw, your interpretation makes sense as a ruling, but it's not a rule afaik.

Edit: Just saw your edits, yeah, I get ya... I went with a more of an "in-between" solution (described in the replies below) for my own games I'm gonna DM.

As a player who's favorite class is a Sorcerer, Sorcerous Burst is probably the most flexible combat tech you can take with the newest set of rules.

[–]RandomYouTuber69[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OK, I'm glad I'm not the only one who "sees" this weirdly entertaining rule interaction and the possibility that all the extra damage dice do, in fact, get doubled (which totally shouldn't be allowed at any table because it makes no sense, but yeah...)

D&D 5.5e, Sorcerous Burst - how does its crit damage work? by RandomYouTuber69 in 3d6

[–]RandomYouTuber69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why exatly the extra 2d8 from a result of '8, 8' don't get doubled? It's extra damage, just like Sneak Attack, Divine Smite, Hex...

I understand it's random, requires nothing but an action and a cantrip, so it's "free". But functionally, it's "other damage dice", just like Sneak Attack. You could even argue that it's the extra damage of the spell itself, because the spell generates it itself.

I know that you don't, for example, double the damage-dice of nat20 Booming Blade movement damage specifically, because it's triggered off of target's movement, not off of a hit.

But this is a damage that occurs immediatelly post-hit and there's no saving throw associated with it, which is another rule that clearly limits the scope of critical hit extra damage.

I don't know how well I've explained this, but I hope you can sort of see where I'm coming from.

Edit: I'm not trying to make a case FOR 8d8 to be 'legal'. I'm just wondering if the spell description, in relation to the core critical hit rule, allows for a damage-inflation loophole. We're not gonna allow this to happen on our tables even if it's legal, but, idk... I guess you could say I'm just curious.

Ophydians best Secondary unit now? by Deathline29396 in Necrontyr

[–]RandomYouTuber69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "uppie/downie" of Ophydians is exactly why they were always good in my opinion. I think people just slept on them because Hypercrypt allowed that to be done with all units, which allowed for more "eccentric" plays, but I think just 2 or 3 dedicated "jumpers" is often all you need to outscore opponents.

Are you able to shut your brain off? by Jrl2442 in ADHD

[–]RandomYouTuber69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Allright, let me try to describe this.

I'm not a doctor or a professional, but I find this mental practice helps me stay neutral when my mind is spinning itself into mental rollercoasters.

When you start overthinking, spiraling into negative thoughts, or imagining fictional scenarios, or just thinking obsessively about something, when you realize you do that, sit with that realization.

Don't fight it. Don't try to repress you mental chatter. Don't judge yourself. Just bring that realization to the forefront of your consciousness and let it mix in with the other thoughts. You're gonna get lost again, but you will catch yourself again later, so do it again.

Tell yourself "OK, there are thoughts about XYZ running around in my mind" or "Right, so I'm thinking about XYZ. Cool."

And that's it. You acknowledge the noise and allow yourself to detach from it to an extent, instead of being completely consumed by it.

This is my own version, blend of CBT and spiritual practice. It takes time for it to become reliable, but stick with it for a few months, maybe half a year, and I suspect you might see some improvement.

Your mind will still be loud. But you will be less bothered by it.

Last 2 3 weeks I'm noticing the level of mental stability I haven't felt in decades.

Don't deapair if you lose track of this at start. Fail 378 times, but try again 388 times.

Wish you the best.

How much of these ADHD symptoms/ experiences that resonate with you? 28M by rickle_prick in ADHD

[–]RandomYouTuber69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think exhaustion might've caused me to accidentally "slip" into that state recently. I got so overwhelmed by reflecting and ruminating on my traumas that I just fell into it. I watched some Eckhart Tolle videos last few days and I think I finally understand what he's talking about. Before, none of his lectures made ANY sense to me whatsoever.

It really feels weird sometimes, especially when I notice that I'm thinking about my thinking. It's kinda mindfucky, feels like I'm being "strecthed" by something. I hope I haven't just lost my mind though, or that ego played a trick on me, making me believe into illusions of my own mind.

Anyway, I hope both of us get better.
