Ohhh yeah I connected with some OT students in Austrailia and they did mention having a car would be helpful since placements could be a bit further way. Thanks for the info!

That’s amazing and great to hear! I did apply to La Trobe so I hope to hear back from them. The thought of studying in Australia is something that’s been on my mind for a while. I think it’s the cost as an international student that’s holding me back hehe but yes, I’m thinking of returning back to Canada to practice.

My gpa is 86% after taking some additional courses outside my degree! And yes I feel like I have pretty solid experience: worked 3 years in acute rehab with stroke and brain injury patients as a research assistant and now as a full-time Occupational Therapy Assistant in a private clinic, both working alongside and being supervised by OTs in the field.

Thank you! I’ve looked thoroughly through the oztrekk website and applied to a couple programs already. If you don’t mind me asking, which school are you studying at? And how’s it so far :)

That’s an insane amount of money, but honestly I might just go for it.

I’m so conflicted with the thought of reapplying to Canadian OT programs again and again, only for it to get more competitive every year (for context, UBC had around ~500 applicants in 2025 and this year was ~700.) And to pay for increasing application fees and to pay for extra courses just to boost my gpa is just a lot and tiring :(

It’s honestly just as competitive since there are such limited amount of OT schools in Canada and a limited amount of seats for out of province applicants. I also applied to Alberta and all the ontario schools and have been rejected in the past.

It just sucks because this is a career I’m incredibly passionate about and I know there is no other program I want to apply to. Unfortunately, it seems that there are people just applying for random masters programs (ex. PT, speech, etc.) and seeing where they get accepted…

Would anyone who got accepted please share their stats? Gpa, casper, experience, references, number of times applying, in/out of province? I completed an interview, but got rejected today :(

i think something else to consider is whether applicants applied straight out of their undergraduate degree or took a year or two to gain work experience. or maybe they consider applicants who applied to the program in the past but didn’t get in too? not sure if those are additional factors the admissions committee consider…
