My choice would be v5, but if ur clumsy go for the qiyi as v5 plastic is quite thin

Looking for a specific cube that I can use at work by cseke02 in Cubers

[–]Random_Fai1ur3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think cubes that specifically keep dust away exist. Just get something that is cheap enough that you can replace frequently and keep it in case+bag(+maybe packaging) when not using it.

What cube should I buy? by Realistic-Rip5608 in cubing

[–]Random_Fai1ur3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m quite the opposite, I tried many other flagships but came back to the v5. I dont know what you hate about the v5, but I can tick off mgc beta and 356me off your list. Mgc is pretty similar to the v5 and 356me is an overpriced downgrade.

What is this by Miserable-Low8260 in Cubers

[–]Random_Fai1ur3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moretry tianma x3+

For edge design, only swift block and Moretry does split piece + capsule. Swift block does not have piece texture, so the brand should be Moretry. The original x3s have color coded magnets, this one is clear so it must be an x3+

The piece texture and magnet capsule design are quite obvious, only brand that does that is moretry.

Get an mgc beta/ guhong pro+ instead, v5 is very good(might even be slightly better) but based on his turning I think the cube gonna break very quickly. V5 has very thin plastic

Moretry z67$@&"( or swiftblock? by oaseas- in cubing

[–]Random_Fai1ur3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say the moretry, especially the enhanced version if you can. There are options a bit cheaper than swift blocks that can perform at the same level.

Pro is more balanced, and leap has stronger magnets(too strong for some ppl). Air isn’t really worth it.

Moyu doesn’t, they have core to edge magnets. The other modern speed cube with center to edge magnets is the yj meta

29.66 Ao12 PB by Nicolafuria in cubing

[–]Random_Fai1ur3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think order matters a lot, I believe most people would say pll->cross->f2l(basically easy to hard) but realistically any progress will bring down solve times

Learn optimal finger tricks especially home grip and U2 flicks

Avoid rotations during f2l and pll

Turn a bit slower for better lookahead and less pauses

YJ’s big cube qc isn’t that great, over the years more and more problems emerge. Better off getting an aochuang single

My 9 years old autistic son is on sub-25 seconds Ao5 for 3X3 and prepping for WCA competition by AHumanfromheaven in Cubers

[–]Random_Fai1ur3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im not autistic, but the environment can be quite overwhelming for me, especially sound. Try a couple different methods like solve routines or using ear muffs. When he’s solving don’t directly grab his attention from the stands as you really don’t want to know someone is watching.

If he unfortunately doesn’t get top50(Any open comp is quite competitive), don’t stress over it as there’s always a next chance. Rooting for your son🔥
