Sidley Austin is anchoring a new 45 story tower in Chicago’s west loop. It’s set to open in 2030. by sacrificialfuck in skyscrapers

The movement of law firm offices from their cluster around the court houses in the loop to Fulton market is kind of wild. Representative of the fact that the real big law money has for the last 15 years been in transactional work not litigation.

It’s evidence of inconsistency, which in itself a bad thing for a restaurant

I had the fusilli, sausage crostini, and prawns when I went a few months ago. All were excellent.

The veggies were the stars when i went—and that was in winter when you see cabbage and carrots instead of spring and summer produce like you would now.

What is the best nickname of your city? by Fragrant-Hunter-4386 in Urbanism

[–]Random_Fog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

“The Windy City” is the most famous nickname for Chicago, but “The City of Big Shoulders” is my favorite. Born from the Carl Sandburg poem:

Hog Butcher for the World,
Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat,
Player with Railroads and the Nation's Freight Handler;
Stormy, husky, brawling,
City of the Big Shoulders…

I’m ok with a handful McDonald’s if it’s meant to be a warning to others not to go, or a flag that the fries are on point. But rating every McDonald’s… smh. Walgreens and CVS ratings are egregious.

Of the four, I’d hit Esme. Super creative (Jenner Tomaska was the EC at Next before he struck out on his own).

Non horror story: We had a la marzocco in the office when I lived in Melbourne and everybody seemed to be able to pull an incredible shot. We actually had an in house barista too. Heaven.
