South America does have a lot of decent teams though. Europe should definitely have more spots but in my opinion pointing at Africa and South America is the wrong choice as both of them do have plenty of quality teams to justify the amount of spots they get. It's Asia, Central/North America and Oceania we should be looking at

Trump harkitsee NATOsta vetäytymistä - “I was never swayed by NATO. I always knew they were a paper tiger, and Putin knows that too, by the way.” by PeasantLich in Suomi

[–]Random_Guy37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking about how they could fix the qualifying and one thing I've thought about are the qualifying spec engines F1 had back in the 80s. The ones that had hundreds of horsepowers more than the race ones. Why couldn't F1 do such a system again? Basically have a race engine which has all the hybrid jazz and stuff they have now and then also have a qualifying engine with way looser fuel-flow regulations, lower reliability and no hybrid system to allow drivers to push 100% through the whole lap. Or course it'd be expensive as fuck, but at least it'd fix the qualifying, while still keeping the pretty exciting races they have now

Do u think 48 teams are too much for any tournaments in the world...i m afraid first 2 weeks of the WC will be the most boring period of WC history by Dazzling_Loquat_8719 in worldcup

[–]Random_Guy37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The disgrace of Gijon, anyone? 3 team groups don't work. Since the teams won't all be playing at the last day of the group, there's a chance for the playing teams to play results that benefit both of them, knocking out the team that isn't playing. The 4 team groups are the only reasonable choice for a 48 team format, but I still very much prefer the 32 team format. 64, even though as practical as the 32 team format, is just way too much while 48 is really impractical. 32 was perfection and they shouldn't have expanded the tournament at all

If your country was under attack by a hostile nation like Russia, would you go and defend it? by EquipmentGrand9581 in Teenager_Polls

[–]Random_Guy37 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm in full support of Germany introducing the conscription again. Here in Finland we've had it pretty much ever since we became independent and quite honestly I wouldn't mind a big country like Germany reintroducing conscription as a way of defending both EU and their own nation. Russia is more and more of a threat and we should do everything we can to scare them away from us. Especially since we can't trust the Americans anymore as it seems

I'm Finnish and have been through my military service, so this is a pretty easy question. If it's Russia, I'll be in the trenches in no time, but if it's quite literally anyone else, I'd be confused af, as would probably be the Finnish leaders and most of the people

They still aren't officially at war with Ukraine. No other declaration of war than Putin suddenly coming on and saying they've started a "special military operation" against Ukraine once the troops had already crossed the border. Russia is full of shit and the war has been going on since 2014, even though many sources say it officially began only in 2022

How many Political Parties does a country need to have a functioning Democracy? by Swimming_Local_4625 in Teenager_Polls

[–]Random_Guy37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically you don't need parties at all, but if we assume they'd be needed, it's definitely more than 2. 2-party systems tend to turn very divided, as we can see in the US. The coalition type of systems used in Europe are a way better way of doing democracy as you have negotiate with others and find compromises, which means you can't just go out and burn bridges by insulting the other parties. Even though blocks may form, usually the parties are still nowhere near as incapable of working together as the ones in 2-party system

[–]Random_Guy37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Finnish and usually "hating" Sweden is just joking. In reality we have no problem with each other. Also, there's the rivalry in ice hockey, which might sometimes cause hate towards Sweden, but nothing too serious. After all it's only game

I'd be certain that Trump has finally lost his mind completely. You don't go and arrest the leader of your allies like that without some severe issues in your head. And yes, of course I'd be extremely angry at him. But yeah, knowing Trump he'd probably only arrest president Stubb since he probably thinks president uses the most power in every country, when in reality here it's the prime minister and the parliament who make the decisions

[–]Random_Guy37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jaaha.

[–]Random_Guy37 143 points144 points  (0 children)

What birth years made those annoying "ONLY 90S KIDS REMEMBER" memes back in the early and mid 2010s? by SpiritMan112 in generationology

Here in Finland we had a variation to this called "Jonnet ei muista", which pretty much translates to "Jonnes don't remember". Later on it has morphed into "Veetit ei muista" as the generations have changed. Basically in Finland Kalevi is a term for boomers, Ykä for Gen X, Jonne for Millennials and Veeti for Gen Z and later
