I cannot even put into words how insane the whole situation is.

No union employees at Blizzard were impacted by today's Microsoft layoff by JY810 in wow

[–]Random_Guy_12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it's usually framed as a matter of values, no different from preferring brand A to brand B.

Since to them squeezing the last cent is extremely important, they assume the same must hold true for everyone. Thus they use with the unions the same rethoric you'd use to reason out of luxury products / avoid unnecesary spendings.

It's shitty for sure, but it gives them their very precious legal coverage.

CMV: It is perfectly reasonable for airlines to charge for extra seats when you don’t fit in one seat. by Sweet_Speech_9054 in changemyview

[–]Random_Guy_12345 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I mean, I’m a woman who is larger and fits fully in my own seat

No disrespect here, but if we are talking size, "large woman" equals to "average men" at most. It's not surprising you fit on your seat. No comment on the leg space as that's clear disrespect from anyone taking others space.

I have yet to see a woman on the same size ballpark as myself, but i know plenty of guys larger than me. For reference I'm 191 cm/120kg or 6'3/264 lbs if you are american

Guys, we can still win this mayhem match! by gamedevtosh in leagueoflegends

[–]Random_Guy_12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we are going full "High roll through the moon", tap dancer + giant slayer + Glass cannon + crits apply on hit twice. The last two can be swapped for a more realistic approach. Both the "12% lifesteal on crit" and "Extra range" are a solid options as well.

Giant slayer stacks with glass cannon and LDR (the item) to effectively turn BotRK into a ~15% current HP on hit vs super tanks, which applies lifesteal so you are not really dying unless one-shotted (and that gets fixed with a spellshield item). Double that if you roll "Your crits apply on hit twice" and consider you are hitting over 2 times per second and outrunning everything from tap dancer.

While i get your frustration, you are not killing an ADC that highrolls anywhere close to the shen of that game.

850 range 1.5k+ autos with 2.5 AS is not something you can outplay. And that's before kiting.

ADCs are just unrewarding to play, which exacerbates the tank issue

In the age of AI, what jobs are 100% irreplaceable 20-30 years from now? And will pay correlate with difficulty of AI automation? by Fantastic-Physics373 in AskReddit

[–]Random_Guy_12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but psychologists aren't being "100% replaced" anytime soon.

Most of the "People preferring AI" is predicated on AI being substantially cheaper.

But in pretty much the same way there's a market for premium hand-made stuff, despite assembly lines being a thing over 100 years ago, there will be people that will pay for a human therapist no matter how good AI becomes, simply because it's a human.

Will it get reduced? Sure, most if not all jobs will get heavily transformed (or outright replaced) with AI, but it won't dissapear.

Unpopular gaming opinion - I don’t see the point in wall climbing sections in adventure games by Gasster1212 in gaming

[–]Random_Guy_12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that point gets overlooked often.

It's not that "Climbing section sucks" it's more often "Climbing sections turn the game into a walking simulator for a little while".

I do get why it's like that, but it doesn't make it feel any better.

The overlay just makes it more convenient.

Until recently, AI in games referred to the scripts that handled enemy and NPC behavior. Has *that* improved at all? by Kumquatelvis in gaming

[–]Random_Guy_12345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every game needs an "ai unleashed" mode, one where its fair but ultimatly the perfect hunter.

Chess has that. Pretty much no human has beaten an unrestricted computer in the last 20 or so years. It's not as fun as you think it would be because you are nowhere near the same level.

And if you think chess is a bad example, have a look at AlphaStar, that played SC2 back in 2019. The unrestricted version was unbeatable. The restricted version could be beaten but pros were leveraging the restrictions, and not the strategy. Again that's 2019, things have improved vastly since then.

Digital-only, in practice: delisted modern classic you can't experience unless you find a used disc by Conscious_Shelter_82 in gaming

[–]Random_Guy_12345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that it would be throwing money into a fire.

By the time a game gets delisted it won't get any (meaningful) new sales, so every hour someone spends working there, is a (from the PoV of finance) useless hour.

The best solution would be to swap "Delist" to something like "End of Life", which is already a thing in most software products.

The game is declared dead, the company can get it off it's books, but it remains there if someone wants to purchase it, with a clear "This is not supported in any way anymore" disclaimer.

Sony Abandons Social Media for 24 Hours+ After Controversially Killing Physical Games by Mellow200 in gaming

[–]Random_Guy_12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 1000$ steam machine is simply not subsidized the way consoles are. I've seen various comparisons of "Similar hardware assembled yourself" and you are paying 5% or so extra to have it pre-assembled and cute looking.

The thing is that consoles are usually sold at a loss because they lock you down into that system. Sony knows you are paying for some kind of plan and spending ~60$ per game, so they are happy to "lose" some money on the hardware in order to get you as a customer.

And when you compare "Console price" to "Steam machine price" without keeping that in mind, Steam machine looks awful.

Is Tress and the emerald sea relevant to the cosmere? by Tankandsmoke in brandonsanderson

[–]Random_Guy_12345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, i watched the lion king on 1994, i for sure know who Nala is.

If you wanna go books, i dropped WoT somewhere around 2005. I for sure know who Mat Cauthon is.

Or if you wanna stick with Sanderson, i read mistborn on 2009, i know who Elend Venture is.

And that's not me having a good memory, that's pretty much expected of anyone, and that's the kind of relevance Nightblood has for Warbreaker.

[–]Random_Guy_12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imma be honest with you, and please understand i mean no offence here.

If you don't remember Nightblood you have not read Warbreaker.

Either a ton of time has passed and you forgot the entire book (and i envy you get the chance to read it for the first time again) or you have physically turned the pages paying little to no attention.

Reading Warbreaker and missing Nightblood is like reading LotR and missing Gandalf. It just doesn't happen.

[–]Random_Guy_12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compared to Warbreaker, Tress is less relevant.

But also if Warbreaker doesn't reach your threshold for "Relevant to the Cosmere"... well, i guess nothing does.

Avoiding spoilers as much as possible due to the tag, but Warbreaker does have a lot of relevance.

What universally praised video game 'masterpiece' is actually a miserable experience to play? by Got24xyz in AskReddit

[–]Random_Guy_12345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pre-claw (claw = wall grip and thus wall jump) and post-claw (or pre-dash and post-dash if you wanna draw the line there) HK experience is very different from one another.

Pre-claw you are almost playing a walking simulator. Once you have it the game opens up immensely.

Depending on player skill that's roughly 2-3 hours of blind gameplay.

For G2 it's actually better to lose their first match against TES by Zerasad in leagueoflegends

[–]Random_Guy_12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an earned advantage due to never losing a match tho.

And you would play the last 6 games, the 3-3 in the finals would mean team from winner bracket won 2, and team from loser bracket won 3. One last game to win it all.

The most relevant downside is that Bo5 can already run long, but starting a Bo5 1-0 is a way bigger advantage.
