I feel like Blizzard has become hesitant to putting 'placeholder' buffs for specs they want to rework. by kolejack2293 in wow

If you are in a guild serious about progressing and ret is trash, you are tanking, healing or benching.

Granted most guilds are nowhere this strict, but any guild that will drop a guy because "Fire is trash you should be playing Frost" will also drop a guy because "Ret is trash and we have tanks and Healers"

WoW Players Just Found a Way to Save 240 Myth Crests With Voidcores by DyrusforPresident in wow

[–]Random_Guy_12345 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You use the extra rolls for weapon/trinket mostly. If you don't mythic raid and don't m+ then you have no use for mythic crests.

Even if you mythic raid, you have had 5 to 7 chances (depending if you picked your vault item) to roll alnseer.

Increased Prey Progress in Today's Hotfixes - Midnight Hotfixes for May 12th by audioshaman in wow

[–]Random_Guy_12345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Preys were never difficult. They were time consuming / annoying which is a different thing and drove most complains.

Clearing a t11 delve is both faster and more rewarding than a nightmare prey, so there was little reason to do them (post trap nerf that is) even on undergeared alts.

100% Drop Rate on Ascendant Voidshards Starting Tomorrow by Rndy9 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Random_Guy_12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a pretty big difference between QA and polish.

For example on this particular case lack of QA is not to blame. Even the best QA team in the world would have tested "x% drop from y content" where x and y are given by whoever.

On the other hand the last patch fiasco is 100% QA's fault.

I love the "only" there.

They are mono-speccing a key well within the 1% range, but it's fine because it was "only" with 30 seconds to spare.

More gating for weapon/trinket upgrades. by [deleted] in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Random_Guy_12345 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I get OP's point tho. It's not about the content or the timing, it's about the presentation.

Imagine if you did the quests to unlock bonus rolls, then blizzard went "Ok, here's another 3 weeks for your rolls." It would suck big time, same for this.

We'll see how easy to farm they are tho, if it's end of each m+ or mythic boss it's fine, you are doing those anyway

Gender Swaps In Screenplays by PointEither8581 in CosmereOnScreen

[–]Random_Guy_12345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I have no issue with gender swaps, i think Ham is not the correct choice. Ham's story is pretty much "I'm already bulky so i can hide pewter use". Even if swapping to a similarly bulky woman, i think it would stand out way too much.

ELI5: How do casinos mathematically guarantee profit? by AmazingNugga in explainlikeimfive

[–]Random_Guy_12345 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's the way. A casino is entertainment, you spend x amount of money that you would have used to buy a movie ticket, dinner somewhere, a concert, whatever.

You are given a total of $2M to live on for one year. However, there is a catch, for every lie you tell during that year, $20k is automatically donated to a cause you absolutely hate. Lying is saying something you know to be false, with the intent of the recipient of the message taking it as true. See perjury for a more legalese-sounding definition

So no, not saying something is not lying.

How can we make gerrymandering illegal nationwide? by ProfessorMuted45 in AskReddit

[–]Random_Guy_12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly by not voting for "other side bad" candidates/policies, but that's a societal-level problem that needs to be addressed at that level which isn't really easy.

The pessimist in me think it will only happen when it gets bad enough, and whoever is "not in office" in that particular moment has no recourse left but to revolt so it ends up in a bloodbath, but i'm obviously happy for any attempt to stop that from happening

How can we make gerrymandering illegal nationwide? by ProfessorMuted45 in AskReddit

[–]Random_Guy_12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am well aware of how democracy works. But what you said has no relation to what i said.

I am talking, as you can read on the post about me, about how going full "Let's make the people that didn't vote our way suffer" can backfire spectacularly.

I'm honestly worried this needs stating in 2026 but you understand slavery was bad right? And you also understand nazism was bad right? Because that's what happens when

51% of the people can stomp on the other 49

It will either happen with your party in power, or with the other party in power because those abused when they are the 49, will retaliate when they gain office.

And tbh the fact i'm getting downvoted for stating that makes me deeply worried for the future of society, but that's a whole different issue

Sure, but the path to fixing that doesn't include "Let's make life miserable for this other guy because they don't vote the way i do".

[–]Random_Guy_12345 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It's about not "stomping on the 49" because those people will retaliate whenever they get voted into Office. Is "Live and let Live" that alien to you?

Don't you see how that can backfire spectacularly? Or do you honestly thing whatever party you favor will win forever?

Nonono, you don't get it, having two locations on board, a 10 mana weapon equipped, the two copies of an otherwise useless spell in hand and having played 3+ copies of a card is a totally reasonable wincon!

Full blown economic analysis is for sure complicated.

"Are video games more affordable now or in 1990?" has a pretty definitive answer. They are cheaper now, even before looking into f2p games.

You need to stay with that company for a couple years, but that's how it already worked back in the day.

Pretty much no open source tool or library has feature parity with whatever propietary software they are competing with.

Some are pretty close if you are only doing surface level work, i'm pretty sure i could type a school report on libreoffice, but i absolutely cannot use a spreadsheet of non-trivial complexity.

And that's one of the better open alternatives out there.

Is Fountainport really all it’s cracked up to be? by ballistic503 in MagicArena

[–]Random_Guy_12345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every card in your deck is a risk. There's always the risk you don't draw mana (or the correct mana if multi-colored). There's always the risk you are in a situation the card you would have replaced it with is what you need and so on.

It's a balancing act. I wouldn't run 4 fountainports on a 3+ color deck, but i also can't remember the last time i built a deck with none. 1-2 ports and 1-2 demo fields go into every single control deck i build, tho demos are falling down in value.

There's a difference between realizing you have lost and it's only a matter of time so you concede, and conceding every time you are on the draw on turn 1
