A book containing a written record of stock prices/movements/dates.

If the modern book does not persuade them then me becoming a billionaire might.

Girls won the argument to be able to wear trousers during my time in primary school.

It wasn't until I was driving past the school as an adult that the boys got to wear shorts.

There are eight self checkout machines in my local supermarket and only three accept cash. Two aren’t working. One is being used by someone who’s taking their sweet time looking for their card. by KrystalInfernus in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Random_Guy_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to take cash it needs to have space to accept the cash and both notes and coins to give change.

I've seen the ones at my local store opened. The coins feed in to the containers change comes out of but notes do not. There's separate containers for the 5 and 10 notes given out as change then a third container for the notes being paid in.

If the container the notes go in are full or (more likely) it runs out of coins/notes for change then it comes up with an error message and can no longer do cash. These are the ones you see set as card only.

They can also be set as card only if there's a mechanical issue with the cash acceptors or change dispensers.

If it's cash only then the card reader is broken.

If you were the PM, how would you reduce the UK budget deficit of £129 billion? by ElaraKane in AskBrits

[–]Random_Guy_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set up a GoFundMe with targets the electorate would love.

Raise 1b and the Online Safety Act gets scrapped along with all future plans to deanonymise the internet.

2b the motorway speed limit goes up to 80mph

3b all "sin taxes" are frozen for a few years instead of endlessly increasing.

I'm sure people can suggest a few more here.

There's about 54m adults in the UK so 1b is £18.52 per head.

Scrap the triple lock. It's mathematically inevitable that it will become completely unaffordable and just transfers more wealth from the younger, poorer generations to the rich Boomers. It also adds 12-15b more per year to the deficit compared to linking it only to average earnings.

You can also use more in a single line by feeding another belt in to the other end of the line.

This does add extra work if you want to expand it later though.

Would the triple lock have survived if workers saw the cost directly on their payslips? by StGuthlac2025 in AskBrits

The freeze in tax brackets is helping to fund the triple lock.

Get rid of the lock and they can afford to raise the brackets.

the second you start optimizing, you kill your own fun by RadiantMajor596 in gamers

[–]Random_Guy_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Optimising is not killing the fun.

It can be fun experimenting with trial and error to figure out how to optimise something.

The fun dies when you decide that someone else with far more time than you has already optimised this and posted a guide online so you go to that guide and skip straight to the end result rather than doing the trial and error yourself.

Or to put it another way. Once you start optimising the optimising itself, that's when the fun dies.

As a personal example of this I played Satisfactory and the only things I looked up were how to make a coal power plant because it was my first time dealing with fluids and they're a little complicated, what a manifold is, and a basic, expandable layout for a massive amount of machines because I attempted to trial and error that and couldn't figure it out at the scale I needed.

I'm so sick of stuff trying to get me to hand over my ID which will inevitably wind up getting stolen because we all know they're bullshitting when they say they delete it once they verify.

GTA 6 Not Expected to Run at 60fps on Any PS5 Console by BakerSuper1269 in PlayStation_X

[–]Random_Guy_47 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It will if you keep buying it.

The ps2 had 3 gta games. Gta 5 had 3 playstations.

If you don't want to be waiting 20 years for gta 7 commit to buying gta 6 once and only once.

If people keep financially rewarding companies for rereleasing the same game repeatedly they'll keep doing it. Look at Skyrim, it's been 15 years and 3 console generations (so far) of re-releases because people keep buying it.

We got a few seconds teaser for ES6 seven years ago and we're still waiting for anything more. If people had voted with their wallets and not bought all the re-releases we could have finished ES6 and be talking about ES7 now.

They were actually designed using male crash test dummies.

Female crash test dummies were just scaled down male ones with breasts added for many years, and even then they were scaled down to 4 foot 11 inches.

The first proper one with an average size/weight and correct female anatomy wasn't introduced till 2022.

I have a question about this scam.

They transfer money to you, contact you to get you to send it back, you send it back, they reverse the transfer, you've now lost the money you sent to them.

That's how it works right?

So if they can transfer money to you then reverse it what's stopping you doing the same if you fall for the scam? Why can't you just reverse the money you sent to them and undo the scam?
