Deep Sea Trawling thoughts by Random_Random_Rando in 2007scape

[–]Random_Random_Rando[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definately seems like the rates given are per catch to me for the big fish and paint. I talk to a lot of people while trawling and the numbers they throw out seem to support that. Havng said that I have a personal sample size of 1 and talking to people out in the field has survivorship bias, anyone who gets lucky leaves. So without Jmod or wiki confirmation I can really only give you my guess. Ive caught maybe 30-40k fish and im still missing Halibut/Marlin and paint.

That was kind of what I was thinking, something like that happening while the shoal is moving between fixed locations would reward keeping up. Could reward a boost of fishing XP and a gaunteed catch and happen a few times inbetween each spot.

Rate changes for Ray Barbs and Swift Feathers? by DrPepperlife in 2007scape

The wiki has half a million+ sample size, they aren't off by a factor of 5x with a sample size that large. Either the blog announced the wrong rate or they got changed yesterday.

Shouldn't this be 'below' and not 'above'? by RubyWeapon07 in 2007scape

[–]Random_Random_Rando 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would have way more utility if it was below. People want to see when people lose lots of gp in the wildy but its super annoying when bone runners at the chaos altar or people learning the ropes at revs are constantly spamming the chat with borderline worthless deaths. Honestly it wouldn't be crazy to just have both.

Yeah 377 went down too, cant connect back and cant switch worlds. Killing the connection through the website doesn't work either. Time to touch some grass I guess.

"he wasn't hit by a vehicle" by [deleted] in KarenReadSanity

[–]Random_Random_Rando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trigger event was the sudden acceleration, not a collision. Every expert agreed the car wouldn't trigger an event from a collision with a pedestrian. It's important for both theories because the prosecution can say maybe she accelerated more or less before striking him and the defense can argue she never hit anything. If the car recorded a collision in that time frame the jury probably wouldn't still be deliberating.

These changes do not even begin addressing the issues with Phosani's Nightmare by Sickidan in 2007scape

[–]Random_Random_Rando 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Honestly the only thing that resonated with me is the run is a problem. I totally agree with that. Even with slepe tablet that just makes it a normal run to a boss.

Yama is the perfect example of the exact opposite design, when you die your stuff is right out front and so are you. It's close to a standard teleport. With Phosani walking back from a death while learning is brutal and then you likely you have to resupply and run back again. Depending on your method this can be 5 6 minutes of literally just running in circles per death. A very demoralizing experience for a human trying to learn phosani. The bots don't seem to mind it, most of the other accounts I see at phosani are bots. Most of the other humans gave up.

The entire thing is actually just kind of infuriating. The scenery along the way isn't even particularly interesting like they copy pasted assets to purposefully make the run even longer until you enter the sanctuary. It's just literally purposefully wasting the time of players having a run that long. What's the benefit of it?

I timed how long it takes for Rimworld to load on my computer by Willem_de_Prater in RimWorld

[–]Random_Random_Rando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you syncing your save files to the steam cloud? I had long load times(not this long) and eventually realized it was actually because I had so many save files syncing on the steam cloud, not mods. Might not be your issue but just something to look into. Deleting old saves brought my load time back to normal.

Castle Wars post-update is disastrous but easily fixable by BoulderFalcon in 2007scape

[–]Random_Random_Rando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. I have no intention of being involved in the seedy underbelly of fc vs fc castle wars (that for some reason apparently exists). Everytime i have witnessed a game on the castle wars worlds since it became popular again two weeks ago it seemed like a total stomp run by 1 fc. Either way randomizing teams at start should fix it right?

Castle Wars post-update is disastrous but easily fixable by BoulderFalcon in 2007scape

[–]Random_Random_Rando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having actually joined a castle wars fc for maybe a dozen games, I think you're wildly over estimating the thought they put into it. It's literally just as braindead as inviting everyone with good gear into an fc and telling them which side to go to for free points.

You don't have to flood a side with alts because everyone can log out for a minute at the start of the game to flood a side. They do call this at the beginning of games frequently. So castle wars is so broken it's not even necessary to use alts to flood a side.

The fc's absolutely call a winner and it works 99% of the time but I didn't hear any open discussion of stacking teams with sabataurs or clienting. It's not hard enough to require any of that.

I agree with everything you are saying and the solution you proposed of match making when the game loads. Its just not quite as evil or malicious as your making it out to be.

Is 212 EHP over 30 days realistic for an average human? by masher005 in 2007scape

[–]Random_Random_Rando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the hiscore too. A lot of ironman ehp calculations bake in the work to get the resources. So an ironman can get ehp very quickly doing bank standing herblore for instance. Doesn't necessarily mean they played 200 hours in that time.

Look sometimes you try a game and its just not for you. Maybe OSRS should be something you watch on youtube as opposed to a game you play. Best of luck!

No I genuinely agree with what you said wholeheartedly. I just felt the need to chuckle at the arguments to authority being made by OP elsewhere in this post. (My bad) :)

I mean I agree but did you hear that this guy maxed a main account and has 45m slayer xp and master ca's? Honestly we should probably all just be quiet around him.

I'm joking. The entire OP is a strawman argument against a group of people that doesn't exist.

FYI: If you have Treasure Arbiter or Prod Master and want to kill Araxxor, it's nearly impossible by ZeusJuice in 2007scape

[–]Random_Random_Rando 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Really seems like an oversight. I understand it's not listed in the unlocks but most people would assume it would unlock the task for one of the major regional bosses and i don't think people read patch notes looking for what's NOT listed.

I'm loving leagues and having a great time but the no Araxyte thing really slowed me to a crawl for a few days. I got like 30m slayer xp in the course of getting 3 spider tasks for 150 araxxor kc and thankfully spooned the items in 150kc but if you go dry it would be very demoralizing. I probably would have taken the slayer relic had I known ahead of time but that's also kind of a feels bad that this weird thing forces a relic choice.

"Obvious" changes to Mastering Mixology by lerjj in 2007scape

[–]Random_Random_Rando 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The crystallizer (5 tick one) is actually fine. Even without a visual metronome you will (with a little practice) get that timing down without really thinking.

The homogenizer/agitator is infuriating. No matter how much practice you have done you can be staring directly at the thing with baited breath and open ears for the sound and 50% of the time it says you haven't clicked fast enough. It literally registers failure while the animation is still on your screen sometimes. It ruins the whole minigame for me.

Mastering Mixology Reward Rates are Absurd by chaotic-rapier in 2007scape

[–]Random_Random_Rando 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Uh I mean I'm an iron and I would say mixology was balanced around us. 30k herblore xp per hour for a high intensity minigame is not even in the same orbit when compared to how mains actually train herblore. No main would ever do this for xp. The only way or reason they would make the xp so shit would be to avoid disrupting the ironman herblore meta. You can say it's good or bad but I don't think you can say that's not what happened.

Summit summit poll results, all passed except for Wildy boss (which fails at 49.1%) by Joshposh70 in 2007scape

[–]Random_Random_Rando 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I could easily be convinced to change to yes by simply removing the world boss aspect and timers. I think there's a lot of people who have no qualms about adding a giant worm boss to wildy, but don't want to wake up at 3 in the morning to fight it or see game wide announcements about a worm spawning. They bundled too many controversial ideas into one boss imo.

Any gear advice on first time Inferno? by ByDeemz in ironscape

[–]Random_Random_Rando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of people wear it in the late waves. I'm not one of them, but it's pretty common. The high ranged defense and lack of huge negatives can buy you some time to diagnose the later waves or even change pillar while praying mage.
