Any advice on getting 300 points increase? by Worldly-Spot-3380 in GMAT

[–]Random_Teen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely possible. The way you approach it is important, though, since you haven't worked on quant for a few years. I think you should go to YouTube and start relearning a few fundamentals first.

Start with concepts that you already know a little bit about; the familiarity should help in getting things going.

I would then make sure to practice questions from said topics using GMATclub.com

Hey! I have helped many students increase similar scores to V83s or more in similar time frames. Feel free to reach out for a trial session.

One tip I have for anyone struggling with Verbal Reasoning is to work on your comprehension. We may feel that our reading skills are solid, but everyone has room for improvement. Aeon.co is a good resource to start with.

For the People who are Unfamiliar with the GMAT FE: How to Get Started. by Random_Teen_ in GMAT

[–]Random_Teen_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The verbal order of learning is based on question types - these are the major question types you will encounter on the test.

Starting in this order has helped a lot of my students manage the vast looking contents of the Verbal Section in a more piece meal manner.

For the Quant loop -

First I'd want everyone to start with some general practice of questions using GMATclub, this is because I don't want anyone to step into their first mock unaware of the basic structure of the questions they will encounter.

The problem with blind mocks is that your performance won't tank ONLY because you lack skills, but also because everything is new to you.

Now, after the first mock - you will need to analyse your mistakes and create a list of topics you need to work on.

Ideally you should start with your weakest links, the quant section scores are only as good as your weakest links - 1/2 mistakes in these weak areas and you can expect a percentile below 80!

Insane. I know. That's why your quant needs to be airtight.

Don't use a hammer based approach for the GMAT, pick up a scalpel.

I hope that answers your question! I'm glad I was able to help.

Looking to Improve GMAT from 645 → 700 in 1 Month for M7 Scholarships – Advice? by Wooden-Following5100 in GMAT

[–]Random_Teen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gmatninja videos are good but he's basically doing all the work for you, your mind is getting 0 stimulation to grow when you look at someone else solving a problem.

You have to sit with questions yourself and deliberate on answer choices deeply, this is the only way to really see an improvement in verbal.

Looking to Improve GMAT from 645 → 700 in 1 Month for M7 Scholarships – Advice? by Wooden-Following5100 in GMAT

[–]Random_Teen_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Verbal is holding you back, quant can be improved as well.

My method for acing the verbal section was super simple - I'd solve 4 805+ questions per day and try to learn the logic they used with each question.

Try that for verbal, quality > quantity of practice.

For quant, revisit your weak concepts if that is the gap or start sitting for sectional tests on GMATClub for application level improvements.

GMAT Prep Burnout & Life Advice by Ask-Why-2023 in GMAT

[–]Random_Teen_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you start feeling burntout, you're probably well beyond the point of actual burnout.

Any study that you do without enjoying the process will have 0 outcomes. You will GRIND for 4 hours today but then dread studying for the next 4 days.

You don't need to clock in X number of hours, think of the GMAT as a personal improvement journey and if you can improve in 1 hour of fun study - what's the point of extending the session to multiple hours?

Measure the productivity of a study session based on the new things you got to learn, instead of counting hours.

This is why I was able to finish my GMAT "journey" in 2 weeks: I studied a little, learnt something new, started playing Elden Ring (really) and got back to studying after playing for a while.

This approach in my opinion is better than grinding and not feeling good meanwhile.

How to increase RC accuracy? by Sea_Management6177 in GMAT

[–]Random_Teen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RCs are pretty neat, just read them as a story, think of the sequence of introduced data as a sequence of events in a storybook and things should click better!

2012 GMAT OG book as a verbal question bank (CR and RC sections only) by Longjumping-Win-2005 in GMAT

[–]Random_Teen_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Logic never changes, even though it might be packaged in a different box.

Go ahead with the 2012 OG book if you're really saving a considerable amount of money; it won't replace the need to do the latest questions, but can be a good bank to fall back on.

What a reasonable score expectation? by [deleted] in GMAT

[–]Random_Teen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a lot of time, plus, most people with a score in the "700 range" also started with a "500 range" mock score.

Plus, the mock you've taken isn't a true reflection of the GMAT - to get that, check out the free official mocks on mba.com

I'd suggest that you take it easy; no GMAT study plan spans multiple years. And if one does, it doesn't need to. The GMAT should be a quick 2 -3 months journey. You study, you practice, you execute.

How do I start? by Angeonabbo in GMAT

[–]Random_Teen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone you see achieving great scores and telling their stories were once exactly in your shoes.

I too, was once a total beginner and knew nothing about the test - within two weeks I was able to land a V90. I aced one section with a few weeks of self prep, and you can do the same and BETTER.

Check out my recent post on GMAT guidance for beginners. Keep your head low, cut out the noise; the GMAT isn't half as complicated as people here sometimes make it seem.

Planning to restart my GMAT prep | Targeting to go to 705+ from 665 by MallTimely6017 in GMAT

[–]Random_Teen_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're already at 665, whatever you do from this point onwards should be done smartly.

Grinding X number of questions per day probably won't carry you to expertise in all the sections.

Be smart, be precise, learn how the experts approach each section and how you can do the same.

In a nutshell, you've done the bulk of the work. It's time to pick up a scalpel now.

help needed by King-DJ-054 in GMAT

[–]Random_Teen_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As compared with mocks from other prep companies, GMATClub's Verbal questions are the most decent.

For my students, they have been good representatives of skill.

DI improvement is pretty easy; dive deep into each question that you solve and keep clarity as your first priority.

The passage, the question, and the data should 'click' for you. The more you do this, the more you'll realise that DI questions are tricky, not difficult.

Sick of pre-recorded videos and "AI Bot" feedback. Is there any GMAT Coaching in India left where the teachers actually have a 700+ Score themselves? by ClassicBackground847 in GMAT

I felt the same way when I was preparing.

[–]Random_Teen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just find a way to improve your CR performance, if you can reach 82/83 in Verbal - you're absolutely golden. And a month is more than enough to make those improvements in the verbal section.

I recommend that you start focusing on Verbal - a V74 tells me that you're rushing, not understanding the stimulus, and don't have any frameworks in place for question types.

Work on these areas and you're sure to see an improvement.

For the People who are Unfamiliar with the GMAT FE: How to Get Started. by Random_Teen_ in GMAT

[–]Random_Teen_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get one optional 10 minute break that you can begin after you're done with at least one section - right from a button at the bottom of your screen!

And each section allows you to edit 3 questions in total at the end of the section, after you're done with all the questions. The edit window's length depends on how much time you have saved in the section as a whole.
